Live Like Benjo Live Like Benjo was created in October of 2014 after the tragic death by Shallow Water Blackout of Benjamin C. “Benjo” Haller.

Live Like Benjo is a 501(c)3 Non Profit dedicated a world of people living life to its fullest every day with passion, without their lives being cut short by a preventable cause such as a shallow water blackout. Benjo was a lifelong sailor, diver, water lover, and instructor, who hailed from Malletts Bay. After sailing thousands of sea miles and completing over 1500 SCUBA dives, Benjo drowned in seven feet of water while holding his breath. Shallow Water Blackout is an underwater “faint”
due to lack of oxygen to the brain brought on by prolonged breath holding. It often occurs without warning and, without immediate rescue, victims quickly drown. Shallow Water Blackout is triggered by lower than normal CO2 levels in the body caused by exertion, hyperventilation, or repeated dives. No one is protected from Shallow Water
Blackout: swimmers, athletes, children or anyone breathing hard or playing breath holding games. Shallow Water Blackout can occur in any body of water: oceans, lakes, pools, and bathtubs.

One of my all time favorite sayings

I guess there’s nothing that sounds the alarms in this country anymore! The great experiment is in serious trouble.

ICE officers may soon be outfitted with gloves that can deliver painful electric shocks intended to gain compliance from combative individuals.

ICE plans to spend up to $20 million to purchase thousands of "conductive distraction and de-escalation devices" for officers and agents by March, according to a notice published Monday by the Department of Homeland Security. https://abc7.la/712LuB

So very true.

So very true.

One of the strangest things about becoming a grandparent is realizing you've seen this story before.

The little girl who once needed her shoe tied is now kneeling down to tie her own daughter's. The same expressions. The same stubborn streak. Sometimes even the same little mannerisms you haven't thought about in decades.

You sit back and watch your child become the parent while pieces of their childhood seem to appear all over again in your grandchild.

Life has a funny way of bringing things full circle.

The older I get, the less impressed I am by things.

A bigger house. A nicer car. More stuff sitting around collecting dust. None of it means what I once thought it would.

But hearing that front door open?

Seeing those little faces come running in like they've been waiting all week to see Grandpa?

That's different.

At this point in life, I don't need much more.

Just more afternoons with them. More noise in the house. More shoes by the door. More hugs before they leave.

You spend years filling a house with things.

Then grandchildren come along and show you what actually makes it full.
