The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has recently become aware of ongoing scams where individuals impersonate deputies. These scammers are contacting residents, falsely claiming they have warrants and demanding payment. A new tactic involves the use of crypto QR codes with a Sheriff star.

Please be aware that the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and other Law Enforcement agencies do not request payment for warrants over the phone and we do not accept cryptocurrency or gift cards.

If you receive a call of this nature, do not provide any payment information, instead, please contact the Lake County Sheriff’s Office directly to verify the information and report the incident.

Unfortunately, the museum will be closed today. My (old) back decided to give out yesterday so I will be at home taking it easy and not putting anymore strain on it then necessary. Thanks for your patience
