Yesterday was Farmworkers Day as well as Trans Day of Visibility. Shai Schnall, GFF’s Co-Executive Director, land worker, and trans person struggling, celebrating, and growing their way to a more liberated world shares some words. “What does it mean that these days overlap? That our struggles and joys cannot be separated from each other because we are each other. Each other’s sustenance, community, family, and support. Other, an experience we share not always mirrored like the butterfly’s wings but shared. May the butterfly’s wings remind us of the interconnection of ALL our celebrations and struggles toward food and land justice in our local food web and on and on.” Go to the l!nk in our b!o to support GFF’s Farmworker Fund and enter to win “Celebrating the Bounty” by the fabulous

As we launch the grant program for 2026, we’re taking a look back at our grantees from 2025. Meet Wildheart Farm, a husband and wife duo who raise grass fed beef and pasture raised chickens on the beautiful Mendocino Coast. Last year they were awarded funds to improve the efficiency of their mobile chicken slaughter set up. A year later, they report that due to the improvements in efficiency thanks to the equipment they purchased with the Good Farm Fund grant, they were able to raise and sell 100 more chickens than they had in previous years, with goals to increase capacity by 200 this year. The mobile equipment traveled all over the Coast, improving efficiency for 7 additional farms & families.
If you’re a small producer in Mendocino or Lake Counties, apply by March 20th for a Good Farm Fund grant to see this type of impact on your farm!
