Alt Things Considered is for listeners who want to discover something new without leaving behind the songs they know and love. Host Taylor Bowser pairs emerging independent artists with better-known alternative acts, building each show around a few sub-genres that fit naturally together. One week might lean toward post-punk and rock; the next, shoegaze and art pop; another, neo-soul and psychedelic jazz; and some might blend genres entirely. The result is a guided tour through some of alternative music’s best songs, whether you’re hearing them for the first time or the fiftieth.
