Free Spay and Neuter Vouchers Available for Qualifying Residents-Walthall County

Spay and neuter is one of the most important ways we can help reduce the number of unwanted litters, prevent overcrowded shelters, and give pets a healthier future.

Every year, countless puppies and kittens are born without homes waiting for them. Many end up abandoned, surrendered, or struggling to survive. Spaying and neutering helps stop that cycle before it starts.

It also has health and behavior benefits for pets, including reducing the risk of certain cancers, infections, roaming, and unwanted pregnancies.

Mississippi Animal Project is offering free spay and neuter vouchers for qualifying residents because we believe prevention is one of the most powerful tools we have to protect animals in our community.

If you or someone you know needs help getting a pet fixed, please reach out to us to learn more about eligibility and availability.

Together, we can make a real difference, one pet at a time.

Meet Ripple: small legs, big brain, and an even bigger personality.

Ripple is a 16-week-old male Dachshund mix who is ready to wiggle his way straight into someone’s heart. This funny little guy has the cutest low-rider look, a playful spirit, and the kind of smart puppy brain that is always working on his next adventure.

Ripple is silly, curious, and full of puppy joy. He loves to play, explore, learn new things, and make people laugh with his little antics. He is super smart, which means he would do great with a family excited to keep teaching him, guiding him, and helping him grow into the amazing dog he is meant to be.

He’s still a puppy, so he’ll need patience, routine, training, and lots of love but Ripple is already showing all the makings of a loyal, entertaining, wonderful companion.

Funny. Playful. Super smart. Completely adorable.

Ripple is looking for his forever family, could he be your perfect little sidekick?

🐾 TNR Tuesday 🐾

Today is for the community cats. 💛

Trap-Neuter-Return, also known as TNR, is one of the most effective ways to help outdoor cat populations. Community cats are humanely trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and returned to the area they know as home.

TNR helps prevent endless litters of kittens, reduces fighting and roaming, and gives community cats a healthier future.

One unaltered cat can quickly turn into dozens more cats needing help. Every spay and neuter matters.

Mississippi Animal Project is working to make a difference, one community cat at a time. Please help us spread the word, support local TNR efforts, and encourage others to spay and neuter their pets.

Together, we can break the cycle. 🐈‍⬛🐾

Signs your rescue pet is getting way too comfortable:

They no longer sleep near you. They sleep on you.

They used to ask politely for snacks. Now they stare into your soul like you owe them rent.

They have a favorite spot on the couch, and unfortunately, it used to be yours.

They follow you to the bathroom because clearly you need supervision.

They’ve started judging your schedule, your cooking, and your life choices.

They know exactly where the treats are and are willing to file a formal complaint if service is slow.

And honestly? We love to see it.

Because “too comfortable” means they finally feel safe. It means they know this is home. It means they’ve traded fear for couch naps, zoomies, snack demands, and unconditional love.

Rescue pets don’t just move into your house. They move into your heart, your routine, and apparently your side of the bed.

Tell us: what was the first sign your rescue pet knew they were home?

Hurricane season starts today, and while we all hope for a calm one, now is the time to make sure your pets are included in your emergency plan.

When the weather gets scary, our pets depend on us to be ready. A little planning now can make a huge difference later.

Here’s what every pet evacuation kit should include:

🐾 Food and water for several days
🐾 Bowls, leash, collar, and carrier
🐾 Medications and medical records
🐾 Updated ID tags and microchip information
🐾 Recent photo of your pet
🐾 Comfort item like a blanket or toy
🐾 Litter, potty pads, waste bags, or cleaning supplies
🐾 A list of pet-friendly hotels, shelters, or family members you can stay with

Please don’t wait until a storm is already on the way. Make your plan, check your supplies, and make sure your pets are coming with you.

They are family. Plan for them like family.

Do you already have a pet emergency kit packed? Tell us what you pack in your kit!

Meet Milo and Murphy. 💔

These two boys were dumped, starving, and utterly exhausted. When we found them, they were desperately waiting for someone to notice them and offer a little kindness.

Their healing journey starts now, but we need your help.

Milo and Murphy need vet care, nutritious food, medications, and safe places to recover. Every donation—no matter the amount—helps us give them the care they deserve.

Please donate today at www.msanimalproject.org/donate

If you cannot donate, please share their story. Every share helps us reach someone who may be able to help. 🐾❤️

May was a busy month for Mississippi Animal Project -and we couldn’t have done it without you. 🐾💙

Because of our fosters, adopters, donors, volunteers, veterinary partners, transporters, and supporters, May was full of second chances.

This month:

🐾 44 animals came into our care
🏡15 animals were adopted
🩺 29 vet visits were completed
💉 123 vaccines were given
✂️ 42 spay/neuter vouchers were completed
🚗 31 animals were transported
🏠 32 animals spent time in foster homes
🎁 numerous donations/wish list items helped keep us going

Behind every number is a life that mattered.

A scared animal became safe.
A hungry belly was filled.
A foster home opened its door.
A family found their new best friend.
A rescue pet got one step closer to forever.

Thank you for helping us rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome. May was possible because of you — and we’re ready to keep going in June.
