A milestone in the movement for ibogaine access 🌍

Three years ago today, from the grounds of the Kentucky State Capitol in Frankfort, we announced our commitment to advancing the medicalization of ibogaine in the United States.

Today, that commitment expands internationally. We are now pursuing a path toward the medicalization of ibogaine and psychedelic medicine more broadly across England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland.

This progress reflects what sustained advocacy makes possible: persistence, partnership, and an unwavering belief in the people this work is meant to serve. In the words of Winston Churchill — never give in.

We’re grateful to our supporters, partners, and advocates who continue to move this mission forward. More developments to come this week.

Four states. One month.

In May 2026, ibogaine research legislation cleared four state legislatures. Each bill takes a different path. Each strengthens the same national framework.

Colorado — HB 26-1325. The Natural Medicine Act establishes an ibogaine research pilot program within the Behavioral Health Administration, authorizes up to five FDA aligned research sites, and requires benefit sharing plans with Indigenous communities. Heads to Governor Polis.

Louisiana — SB 43. The Psychedelic Assisted Therapy Initiative passed unanimously: 37-0 in the Senate, 97-0 in the House. Funded by opioid settlement dollars, with 20% of any future revenue returning to the state. Heads to Governor Landry.

Tennessee — SB 2149 / HB 2075. The HOPE Treatment Act creates a Council on Emerging Behavioral Health Treatments and authorizes Tennessee institutions to participate in multistate FDA supervised clinical trials. Senate passed 29-1. Effective July 1, 2026.

Oklahoma — HB 3834. The Oklahoma Breakthrough Therapy Act is now law. House 68-23. Senate 33-9. Signed by the Governor today.

Standing together.

Today, Americans for Ibogaine and DAV (Disabled American Veterans) announced a national partnership to advance research, education, and policy advocacy on ibogaine as an emerging therapy for veterans facing PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and substance use disorder.

DAV has fought for America’s veterans since 1920. Nearly one million members. Chartered by Congress. Now standing alongside AFI to bring ibogaine into the U.S. healthcare system through FDA approved clinical trials.

Together, the two organizations will:

• Share science based, veteran centered education
• Highlight ongoing research and policy developments
• Mobilize DAV members to advocate for evidence based ibogaine research in state legislatures nationwide
• Elevate veteran voices and lived experience

“Veterans are seeking new solutions to complex health challenges, particularly in areas related to brain injuries, PTSD and substance use disorder,” said DAV CEO Barry Jesinoski. “This partnership is about ensuring they have access to credible information, ongoing research and a thoughtful veteran focused conversation about emerging therapies.”

“Veterans have been forced to leave the country they have served in order to access ibogaine treatment when all other options have failed,” said AFI CEO Bryan Hubbard. “We are proud to partner with DAV.”

Oklahoma joins the movement.

Today the Oklahoma State Senate passed HB 3834, the Oklahoma Breakthrough Therapy Act, by a vote of 33–9. The bill cleared the State House 68–23. Both chambers have spoken. The bill now heads to the Governor’s desk.

Welcome to a growing coalition of states leading evidence-based reform.

HB 3834 builds the framework for Oklahoma to host FDA-approved ibogaine clinical trials with developer matching, in-state prioritization, broad post-approval patient access, and professional immunity for Oklahoma medical professionals.

It aligns directly with the federal Executive Order, which prioritizes federal-state partnership to execute one unified FDA ibogaine development trial nationwide. Federal action. Tribal endorsement. State legislature. Three lines of support converging.

The path to medicalization runs through the states. We celebrate every state that takes this step, and we welcome Oklahoma to the work.

Ohio is at the table.

Today spoke before Ohio’s Ibogaine Treatment Study Committee, on the very ground where Abraham Lincoln addressed the citizens of Columbus on September 16, 1859.

The committee, chaired by State Representative Justin Pizzulli, is evaluating whether Ohio will join its sister states and as many as five Native American tribes in forming the first ever federal multistate drug development compact for ibogaine.

From the soil that gave America its abolitionist conscience to the legislative chambers of today, the work of healing, individual and national, moves forward.

With gratitude to Chairman Pizzulli and the committee for the conviction they bring to this charge.

The advancement of psychedelic medicine in America has been decades in the making. They are a humanitarian resource deserving of broad, bipartisan support. On behalf of Americans For Ibogaine, and I are proud to have teamed up with to help bring Republicans full circle to create an American unity opportunity with Democrats and Independents everywhere to help bring psychedelic-assisted healing to everyone who may choose to pursue it. Let the hard work of individual and social transformation begin, hand in hand.
