DAY 5

Yesterday, we looked at Jesus's instructions quoted by the Apostle Paul, too love our enemies. The command to love our enemies means much more than simply changing our feelings about people with whom we do not get along. Rather, "enemies" (Greek echthros) means "adversary or foe" and refers to those whose actions and words manifest hatred for you: the in-laws, who will not speak to you, the associate who tried to get you fired.

Jesus leaves no room for speculation in this passage, commanding us to love those who hate, despise, and persecute us. SUCH LOVE IS ONLY POSSIBLE THROUGH THE POWER OF JESUS CHRIST, WHO HIMSELF LOVED IN THAT WAY and now seeks vessels through whom to love again, the hate-filled who verbally attack Him as they oppose you.

TODAY'S BIBLE VERSES

MATTHEW 5:46-48...
⁴⁶ For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? ⁴⁷ And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? ⁴⁸ Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect. (NKJV).

CONCLUSION

DAY 4

What does it mean to "Cowboy up"? At its core, cowboy up is a call to take personal responsibility, endure hardship without complaining, and face life’s challenges with courage. So, let's look at how we can "Cowboy Up for Jesus Christ" this morning.

The term, originating from rodeo and ranching culture, it asks individuals to dig deep, get the job done, with a "tough-as-nails" mindset when adversity strikes. However, too 'Cowboy Up' for Jesus Christ, we have to do it with a loving spirit.

The phrase carries layers of meaning that reflect back too the values of the American West with Resilience and Grit. It is a challenge to strap up, persevere through pain or failure, and keep moving forward. However, it's possible when we do it out of our Love for Jesus Christ, to reach and help others with The Agape Love of Jesus Christ.

Think about it, a bull rider getting thrown to the dirt, only to get up on his feet, dust himself off and prepare for the next ride without complaining.

No Complaining, whining or making excuses. The expectation is to tackle a difficult (or dangerous) situation gracefully and do the right thing, especially when it’s not the easy thing to do. However we can, when we stay focused on The Love of Jesus Christ for The Glory of God. It's then, things in our heart change.

Love Your Enemies

MATTHEW 5:43-45...
⁴³ “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ ⁴⁴ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, ⁴⁵ that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.(NKJV).

DAY 3

In today's Bible Verses, Jesus instructs his followers to replace the old law of proportional retaliation with radical, unexpected grace. He commands believers to turn the other cheek, give up their cloaks when sued, go the second mile, and freely lend to those in need.

Sometimes, cowboying up and turning the other cheek, could be painful physically, emotionally, or spiritually. We'll look a little deeper at this tomorrow. But, for now, cowboying up is about love. Doing the right thing, through inaccessory prayer for others and our daily actions, showing Love to other people.

TODAY'S BIBLE VERSES

GO THE SECOND MILE

MATTHEW 5:38-42...
³⁸ “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ ³⁹ But I tell you not to resist an evil person.
