We remind ourselves and staff often, "Healing doesn’t always begin with big moments."

Sometimes it begins with a peaceful night’s sleep, a walk around the prayer trail, or someone who faithfully shows up.

At Selah, we believe safety creates the space where healing can begin, one day at a time. God’s light shines. Healing begins in safety.

This month at Selah, we are reflecting on the truth that God’s light shines even in the darkest places.

Many women who come to Selah have walked through seasons marked by fear, uncertainty, and deep hurt. But darkness does not have the final word. Through the love of Christ, a safe place to heal, and a community willing to walk alongside them, women can begin to experience hope again.

We believe healing begins when safety is restored and God’s light is welcomed into every part of the journey. God's light shines. Healing begins in safety.

Help us create a welcoming evening for our Lead With Light Banquet!

We’re looking for volunteers to serve on Monday, August 31, beginning at 8:00 AM at the banquet venue.

Whether you can serve for part of the day or stay through the evening, we’d love to have you on the team. Volunteer opportunities include:

• Setting tables and preparing the venue
• Decorating event spaces
• Greeting and checking in guests
• Serving at the dessert table
• Helping with clean-up after the banquet

Every role helps create an evening where guests can hear how God is bringing hope and healing through Selah.

Thank You for walking with us through every season. When healing feels slow, remind us that You are still at work, even when we cannot yet see the outcome.

Give each Selah woman the patience to trust Your timing and the courage to take today’s next step. Remind us that You are faithfully working in our own lives, making all things beautiful in Your perfect time. Amen.

Some of the most meaningful progress in recovery happens quietly.

It’s found in ordinary routines, growing trust, and the courage to take one more step than yesterday.

Healing rarely follows a straight line, but every small step matters. At Selah, we’re grateful to walk alongside women as they discover that hope is often rebuilt one day at a time.

Give each woman the patience to trust the process, even when progress feels slow. Strengthen her heart on the difficult days, encourage her in the quiet ones, and help her see that every step forward matters.

Thank You for Your faithful presence through every season. Please remind us that You are still at work when waiting seems to take longer than we expected.

One morning, she sat with her coffee a little longer than usual.

A few weeks earlier, she couldn’t imagine slowing down. There was always another problem to solve or another reason to stay on guard.

That morning was different.

She watched the chickens scratching around in the morning sunlight, finished her coffee while it was still warm, and joined a conversation happening nearby.

Nothing extraordinary happened that day. But later, she realized she had spent part of the morning simply enjoying where she was. Sometimes that’s how healing begins.

It’s easy to wonder if healing is happening when progress feels slow.

We’ve learned that some seasons are marked by obvious change, while others are filled with quieter things: learning new routines, building healthy relationships, and finding peace in ordinary days.

Ecclesiastes reminds us that every season has purpose. Every season matters, even the ones that don’t seem remarkable at first.
