St. Johns Lodge #53 A.F.& A.M. The Oldest Masonic Lodge in Tyler, Texas. John's No.53 in particular. Freemasonry is a fraternity. The Masonic Order is a serious group.

Chartered on January 19, 1849.

2024 marked our 175 years of existence, this is a testament to the continual love and dedication of our Masonic Brothers to Masonry in general, and St. Its membership is restricted to men, but there is no hazing as is found in some college fraternities. It exists to take good men and help them to become better men. Thus, it is not a reform society. It does not exist to reform criminals, nor would such persons benefit from its teachings.
