If these walls could talk…

They would have quite a story to tell.

The Chilton-Lipstate-Taylor House has stood in Tyler since 1888, and was home to the first native-born Texas US Senator. Those who were lucky enough to visit the home during our 2022 tour may remember the hand-painted, Italian-style fresco of the Alamo that adorns the library wall. This home is one of a kind.

Think about everything that has happened in Tyler since these walls were built.

Generations have come and gone.

Businesses have opened and closed.

Families have made memories.

And somehow, this place is still here.

That’s why preservation matters.

Help Historic Tyler protect and celebrate the stories behind the places that have shaped our community.

Become a member this September. Membership starts at just $25 and is open to everyone. https://www.historictyler.org/membership
