OK everyone...we're going to try again this week! We’ll be set up just north of the Tybee Pier this Sunday, August 30th at 6:30 PM. We’ll have parking passes and everything you’ll need to clean the beach. Use 1509 Strand Ave on GPS to find us (hint: in front of Parking Services).

Please also join us for a post-Labor Day-fireworks beach clean up on Tuesday September 8th starting at 6 PM, at the same location.

As always, check here before coming out if the weather is in doubt. We’ll post any cancellations there by 4 PM day of.

Volunteers with Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) picked up 1,338,712 plastic beverage bottles and 885,854 caps from beaches and waterways worldwide in 2025. That makes them the first and third most commonly found items of litter across every cleanup site the organization tracked.
“There’s really no excuse for this — plastic bottles are among the most recyclable items out there, which tells us two important truths: one is that we are making too much plastic, and two is that a lot of our waste isn’t getting where it needs to go,” Brandon said. “Luckily this is fixable. Increasing access to recycling, including bottle deposit returns, and investing in reuse and refill infrastructure would go a long way.”
