We enjoyed Randi Alreck’s interesting talk and photo presentation on the Restauration ship and also Tom Flom’s talk about Syttende Mai and what it means to Norwegians.
The potluck supper was delicious too!

Our Scandinavian Folk Music and Dance Weekend was fantastic! Here is a sampling of photos from the children’s dance instruction, the fiddle workshop, pizza lunch, concert and dance party on Sat night followed by an impromptu mini concert at the Harbor Rail, and a Sunday concert at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. We thank our wonderful musicians from the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis and our dance instructors Rose and Barbara for their help.
Generous Sons of Norway grants were greatly appreciated to keep this fun event free and open to the public.

Here is a brief clip of music from our last social. Paul Dahlin intertwined the tunes with stories of how music affects and enriches all of our lives.

Our next social will be on Tuesday April 14 at 7 pm at the Community Center. Paul Dahlin and friends will share stories and traditional fiddle tunes demonstrating simple folk traditions and how these can enrich other’s lives.
Looking ahead to our upcoming weekend of music and dance April 25-26, our hope is to inspire others to explore their own cultural traditions as we shine a light on our Scandinavian heritage.
It’s just going to be fun!
