Friends of the Band Shell Park

Friends of the Band Shell Park Friends of the Band Shell Park is actively planning and raising funds for the new Performing Arts Center in Thomas Owens Park. Please donate today!

Organized in 1897, the Two Harbors City Band is entering its 114th year as a representative of the City of Two Harbors. Each summer the Band performs weekly concerts in the Paul Gauche Memorial Band Shell located in Thomas Owens Park in downtown Two Harbors. The Two Harbors City Band has a rich tradition of providing music from dedicated individuals and the music has been enhanced ever since the c

onstruction of the Band Shell in 1937. However, the Band Shell is now over 70 years old and is showing its age. The City Band is also currently without its own rehearsal and storage space. Because of the uncertainty of how long the City Band can continue to rehearse at the Two Harbors High School as well as store music, uniforms and equipment there, and due to potential structural issues with the Band Shell, a group of Two Harbors area citizens including members
of the City Band have formed a committee named “Friends of the Band Shell Park” to explore long-term options to enhance Thomas Owens Park and the Band Shell. The committee will not only be looking at options to include rehearsal and storage space for the Band Shell, but also will consider the addition of public restrooms, handicap accessibility, and multi-use areas to be used by the entire community.
