Police Union Unanimously Ratifies New Collective Bargaining Agreement with City |

Less than twenty-four hours after members of the Twinsburg Police Patrol Officers' Union voted unanimously to ratify a tentative agreement reached with the City for a successor contract, Twinsburg City Council voted in favor of accepting that agreement in a 7-0 vote Tuesday evening. The Union thanks Mayor Scaffide and his administration for their willingness to return to the bargaining table and reach a mutually beneficial agreement. Most notable in the new agreement is the elimination of the two-tier wage system that has been in place since 2017. Also as part of the agreement, the Union will allow the City more flexibility in regards to hiring, which balances the City's ability to attract experienced candidates through a lateral transfer program with safeguards to protect the rights of current bargaining unit members. Our members appreciate everyone who stood in solidarity with them, and they are eager to move forward now in a positive direction as they continue to serve the residents of Twinsburg to the best of their ability.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of one of our deputies, Jacob Nees, who passed away suddenly this weekend after being involved in an off-duty vehicle accident.

Deputy Nees joined the Sheriff’s Office two months ago after graduating from our Academy. He is a 2018 graduate of Mount Union where he studied Criminal Justice, and previously worked as a parole officer before joining our team. In his spare time, he played drums in a few local bands.

Deputy Nees will be greatly missed by our Office. We extend our deepest condolences to the Nees family and to Jacob’s friends and loved ones.
