What makes an ordinary summer truly unforgettable?

Maybe it’s discovering something new.
Maybe it’s finding people who understand you. Maybe it’s growing as an artist in ways you didn’t expect.

Whatever it may be, Blue Lake stays with you long after summer ends. Visit bluelake.org to learn more and register for Summer 2026.

Join us for Romeo & Juliet presented by The Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company at Blue Lake’s beautiful Rose Theater!

📅 Saturday, August 22 at 2:00 PM
🎟 Adults: $25 | Students: $15

You can purchase tickets by visiting https://bluelake.charityproud.org/EventRegistration/Index/27749 (link in story).

Funds raised from this special performance help support the upkeep, maintenance, and care of this most unique facility on our campus.

Designed and built in 2009 the Rose Theater is modeled after Elizabethan theaters common in Shakespeare’s time. Approximately 1/10th the size of London’s Globe Theater, the facility can seat up to 750 students and has allowed Blue Lake to provide unique instruction in Shakespeare's works to theater majors.

It is also a regular home for Pigeon Creek Shakespeare performances, and occasionally hosts chamber recitals by Blue Lake Faculty.

Due to the nature of the design and structure, the Rose is vulnerable to weather and wear. Your ticket for this event will help ensure we are able to preserve this important facility.

If you have any questions, please contact our Development Office at [email protected] or 231.894.1966.

Today marks the 81st anniversary of the birth of towering musician Anthony Braxton!

A progenitor of the A.A.C.M. in Chicago in the 1960s, an international jazz star in the 1970s, and a respected educator at Mills College and Wesleyan University, Braxton’s work continues to challenge and expand how we understand music.
