🏳️‍⚧️ VOLUNTEER WITH TRANS AFFIRM AT Boise Pride!! 🏳️‍🌈

Trans Affirm is getting ready for Boise Pride Festival, September 19–20, and we’re looking for volunteers to help us staff our booth throughout the weekend!

We’re aiming for 6 volunteers per shift, with three shifts available each day. Come spend a few hours with us helping connect community members with transgender resources, programs, affirming items, and more!

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19
• Opening Shift: 10:00 AM–2:15 PM
• Midday Shift: 2:15–6:30 PM
• Closing Shift: 6:30–10:30 PM

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20
• Opening/Parade Shift: 9:30 AM–12:30 PM
• Afternoon Shift: 12:30–3:30 PM
• Closing Shift: 3:30–6:00 PM

Opening volunteers will help us get the booth ready for the day, while closing volunteers will help with packing up and breakdown.

Whether you’ve volunteered with Trans Affirm before or this would be your first time, we’d love to have you join us! You don’t have to commit to the entire weekend—sign up for the shift that works best for you.

🏳️‍⚧️ Help us make sure Trans Affirm has a strong community presence at and that trans+ Idahoans know there are resources, support, and people here for them.

🏳️‍⚧️ YOU are Idaho trans history.

So much of transgender and gender-diverse history can feel "new" because our stories weren't always documented, preserved, or safely told. But we know trans and gender-diverse people have always existed in Idaho—even when that history lived quietly, underground, or within our own communities.

And our history isn't finished. Every organization built, resource shared, protest attended, community event created, and trans person who chooses to exist authentically in Idaho becomes part of the story we're writing right now.

For Trans History Month, we're celebrating some of the moments, organizations, and people shaping Idaho's trans and gender-diverse history—past, present, and still in the making.

We have always been here. We're here now. And YOU are part of the history. 🩵🏳️‍⚧️

August is Trans+ History Month! This week we’re honoring Hijra communities of South Asia. Hijra have local and religious history that stretches as far back as 4000 years ago.

Third genders have long roots in many cultures. Recognizing hijra, fa'afafine, Two-Spirit, and other diverse identities shows gender is varied and historical, not a modern fad.

August is Trans+ History Month! 🩵🏳️‍⚧️

August is Trans+ History Month! This week, we’re honoring Dr. Michael Dillon, who is widely recognized as the first known trans man to undergo phalloplasty. Dr. Dillon's courage and legacy echoes in modern trans healthcare to this day.

Stories like Dr. Dillon’s remind us why we fight so hard for accessible, affirming care. Trans Affirm supports our community through resources, community events, education, transition wear, and advocacy.

Happy Marsha P Johnson Day! It's also Trans+ History Month 🏳️‍⚧️🩵

August is Trans+ History month! To honor our gender-diverse community, we will share pieces of Trans History every Friday through the month of August.

STAR (now known as STARR, or the 'Strategic Trans Alliance for Radical Reform') represents a vital chapter in transgender history that many people today may not be familiar with. STARR was one of the first Trans led organizations to help New York City’s Trans, Gender Non Conforming, and S*x Worker folks in acquiring immediate daily needs such as housing, food, and community.

Over 50 years later, STARR still upholds their main efforts of giving immediate needs to the TGNC community; a roof over their heads, food in their bellies, and a family to count on!

Trans Affirm, Inc. proudly follows in their footsteps by serving transgender and gender-diverse individuals throughout our beautiful mountain state of Idaho. As pioneers in transgender-affirming care in Idaho, we’re dedicated to providing community support by offering resources, community events, education, supplying transition wear, and engaging in advocacy work.

We stand in solidarity with our sister organizations as we collectively work toward creating a safer, more inclusive world for all of us. The groundbreaking efforts of community leaders like Sylvia Rivera and Marsha P. Johnson laid the essential foundation that allows our organization, and many others like it, to provide the support and guidance our community needs and deserves.

Y'all keep showing up for trans folks 🥹🩵

We've had at least 4 different people donate multiple binders to our Transition Wear Program just within the past month!! Every single one of those binders gets to go right back out to a trans Idahoan who needs one.

Seriously, thank you for thinking of us when you have transition wear to pass along. Our community rocks! 🏳️‍⚧️🩵

🏳️‍⚧️ Looking for help covering the cost of HRT?

Trans Affirm's HRT Access Grant is currently closed, and unfortunately, we aren't able to accept additional applicants until our next grant cycle. While we wish we had the funding to help every transgender Idahoan who reaches out, our current grants have already been awarded.

Until applications reopen, we don't want to leave you without somewhere to turn. 🩵 We've gathered several HRT funding, reimbursement, and healthcare access resources that may be able to help with prescriptions, appointments, labs, supplies, travel, or other HRT-related expenses.

Swipe through to explore these opportunities, check each program's current eligibility requirements, and share this post with someone who may need it!

🏳️‍⚧️ Did you know you can directly donate to our HRT Access Grant?

After spending the last six days celebrating the recipients of our first-ever HRT Access Grant cycle, we want to talk about what comes next: Cycle 2.

Trans Affirm is community funded, and programs like this continue because people in our community choose to invest in them. With your help, we can take the joy we've seen from our first six recipients and create that opportunity for even more transgender Idahoans in the future. 🩵

Donating directly to the program is easy! Visit our donation page and find the dropdown that says "Trans Affirm General Fund." Open it and select "HRT Access Fund" to designate your donation specifically toward future HRT grants.

Whether it's $5, $25, $100, a recurring donation, or simply sharing this post—every contribution helps us build toward another cycle.

Our first cycle showed us what community funding can accomplish. Now help us make Cycle 2 possible.

Congrats, Rae!

🏳️‍⚧️ And we're closing out our recipient announcements with another celebration!

Our final spotlight is on a recipient selected for the Continuing HRT portion of Trans Affirm's 2026 HRT Access Grant.

Their established HRT care will be financially supported by Trans Affirm for the coming year. 🩵

We felt it was important that this program didn't focus exclusively on beginning HRT. Access also means being able to continue the care that's already an important part of someone's life.

Financial circumstances change. Insurance changes. Costs add up. Someone shouldn't suddenly have to choose between their gender-affirming healthcare and other necessities because their circumstances changed.

That's why continuing care has a place in our HRT Access Grant—and why we hope to continue growing this program in future cycles.

With that, we've celebrated all six recipients from our first-ever cycle!

Congratulations to every recipient. We're honored to help make your care a little more accessible. 🩵
