Something to think about as Veterans Day approaches...
When we talk about the challenges veterans face after service, PTSD is often part of the conversation.
But another struggle often goes unrecognized: moral injury.
Moral injury can occur when experiences conflict with a person's deeply held values, leaving feelings of guilt, shame, betrayal, or spiritual distress.
Awareness is the first step toward understanding.
This Veterans Day, let's move beyond "thank you for your service" and also commit to listening, learning, and supporting those who may be carrying invisible wounds.
💙 Different struggles. The same honor.
A special thank you to Chaplain Gary from Hospice Visions for sharing this important perspective during our staff education meeting last week. Conversations like these help us better understand, support, and honor the veterans we are privileged to serve.
