🎨A paintbrush, color, and a little imagination can turn into something powerful. 🖌️

At Friday’s Chobani Summer Program, children and families created a community mural for Valley House filled with bright, free-flowing artwork and messages of encouragement. Look closer and you’ll find rainbows, hearts, suns, flowers, and words like “you are loved” and “stronger together”.

A reminder that hope often shows up in the simplest, most honest ways. 💓

💌Recently, a resident shared a thank you letter with our team, and it served as a meaningful reminder that sometimes the smallest acts of care can make the biggest difference.

Thank you for supporting a place where individuals and families can find stability, encouragement, and hope as they work toward self-sufficiency. 💙

🌱The garden has entered its “trust the process phase”

We’ve got the plants. We’ve got the water. We’ve got high hopes.

A big thank you to Eat Smart Idaho at the University of Idaho Extension for the plants for our resident garden. We can’t wait to watch these little guys grow and for our residents to be able to enjoy fresh produce throughout the season! ☀️

🏠Learning Series: What Support Looks Like

As we wrap up our learning series, we wanted to share what support truly looks like at Valley House.

Support can look like shelter, meals, hygiene supplies, or even life skills classes. We also believe support means creating moments of normalcy and community. Children in our shelter celebrate birthdays with cake and presents, participate in holiday celebrations, and enjoy summer activities that remind them they are cared for and not alone.

Our support even extends beyond those staying with us, through community showers, food boxes, and connections to additional resources for those who also need a hand up.

None of this would be possible without the generosity of our community. Through donations, volunteer support, partnerships, and community drives, so many people make this work possible.

Thank you for following along with our learning series and supporting the individuals and families we serve every day. 🤍

🏠Valley House Learning Series:Why structure matters

From the outside, structure can sometimes be misunderstood. Expectations, routines, accountability, and consistency may seem strict at first glance, especially when someone is walking through one of the hardest seasons of their life. But over the years, we’ve seen something powerful happen time and time again:

What feels difficult in the beginning often becomes the very thing that helps someone rebuild.

One former resident shared that when they first arrived, the structure felt overwhelming. They questioned why little things mattered so much. But over time, those routines and expectations became stability. What once felt frustrating became the foundation that helped them regain control of their life.

Structure isn’t about control it’s about creating a safe, consistent environment where growth, healing, and progress can happen. Our goal is to create an environment where people don’t just get by, but where they can truly move forward.
