Hello friends and family, I am gathering Translations in the indigenous languages for the word Bison. I’m really thankful for those who have contributed thus far, and I am continuing my search for translations in the following tribes:
Kiowa, Comanche and Cheyenne of the Southern Plains, the Pawnee of the Central Plains, the Salish, Kootenai, Lakota, Aaniih, Northern Cheyenne and Blackfeet from the Northern Plains.
If you, or someone you know can help me out with how to say BISON in these languages, I would love for you to share and include what tribe and the rough translation for it. Let’s share the original language of these lands and keep those languages thriving! Waashiraharanito’sh

Shout out to the non profit IMAGINATIVEINC www.imaginativeinc.com They do a quarterly magazine called Roots that features kids from tribes share their language using colors, animals, numbers, body parts, etc. Feather Spotted Bear is featured here sharing the Nu'eta langauge with readers. Such a great way for the langauge to be shared and preserved. Give their website a look and check out the magazine along with the many other amazing projects they have going on.
