Emergency Assistance Program From deployments and relocation, to new schools and new friends, so many things about military life are beyond a family's control. Our goal at the ASYMCA is to support these families in ways that help them adapt and overcome because we understand their way of life. We work hard to identify gaps in support and services currently available and tailor our programming to meet those needs specifically. Through our unique, little to no cost programs, we are able to help all of those who need it. Military families are relying on the ASYMCA for support more and more, and we are working diligently to make military life easier, but we can't do it alone. Your generous support is greatly appreciated and you can visit our website to make a donation or get involved.

📣 Calling all volunteers available on Nov 7th!

🏃 Volunteer at the Joshua Tree Half Marathon aid stations! Serious and available inquiries only. Locations are all in 29 Palms. You will be assigned to an aid station with another volunteer to help with refilling water, passing out electrolyte gels/fruit and TONS of cheering! This is an evening race. Open to active duty military and spouses!

Registration is required. LOA's provided by ASYMCA 29 Palms.

Registration is available for Tuesday, October 27th at the Pelican Shop Food Pantry! You must register for a 30 minute time slot and arrive during your 30 minute time slot. Registration will remain open until Sunday at 11:59PM.

💙 September was Hunger Action Month — and We Took Action!

At the Armed Services YMCA 29 Palms, we believe no military family should face food insecurity. This Hunger Action Month, we’re proud to continue supporting our active duty service members and their loved ones with essential pantry staples that help bring stability, dignity, and relief during challenging times.

When a call came out from our friends at the Hanson House Foundation for pantry items to help stock their kitchen as they families needing local lodging during a loved one’s unexpected hospital stay, 29 Palms Marines and Sailors answered the call, stocking Hanson House shelves with groceries!

Hanson House (through a relationship with the Armed Services YMCA 29 Palms), provides MCAGCC Marines/Sailors and their families lodging in Palm Springs while military or family members are hospitalized in the low desert.

Who Am I❓

🎨 Our Operation Homeschool Hero Art Class, here at the Armed Services YMCA 29 Palms, students explored "Who Am I?" through art and emotions. They looked at Pablo Picasso and talked about how artists can show feelings in different ways through color, shape, line and facial expression. The children created their own Picasso-inspired feeling faces and talked about how a face might look when we feel happy, sad, surprised, angry, silly, calm, or excited! There was no "right" way - the children were encouraged to make their artwork as unique as they are.

🥰 Through this activity, they practiced identifying emotions, expressing themselves creatively, making individual choices, and recognizing that we can all experience many different feelings and still be ourselves.

Our Programs and Services will be closed today in observance of the holiday. They will resume Tuesday October 13th.

👗 The Armed Services YMCA 29 Palms was delighted to host our annual Ball Gown Giveaway, providing beautiful gowns and accessories to the incredible spouses of our active duty Marines, as they prepare for this year's Marine Corps Birthday Ball.

🙏 We would like to thank Desert Best Friends Closet and ESPECIALLY Matthew Campos, Executive Director DBFC, for helping make this day so special with gowns, jewelry, handbags, shoes, time and effort donated to support our Marine spouses!

🙏 Another BIG thank you to our active duty and civilian volunteers that gave so freely of their time Thursday and Friday to help set up and run our annual event, making it a huge success!

💙 Making Friends

🥰 This week in Operation Wiggle Room, here at the Armed Services YMCA 29 Palms, we explored making friends and playing together. Through free play, children had opportunities to meet new friends, share toys and interact with other children and adults. At this age, friendships begin with simple moments - playing side by side, watching what another child is doing, offering, smiling or joining an activity together. These everyday interactions help children build social confidence, communication skills, sharing and a sense of belonging.

✨ More importantly, parents and kids had fun getting comfortable with our new friends and our classroom!

📣 Our Fall 2026 Operation Wiggle Room classes are FULL.
📆 Look for our Winter 2027 registration in December.
