Chasity's Champions

Chasity's Champions Chasity's Champions is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides educational resources. She is the daughter of Lander & Betty Barnes.

Chasity was born on May 5, 1981 in Houston County and lived most of her life in Webb, AL. She has three sisters: Amanda, Regina, Candance. She graduated from Ashford High School in 1999 and received her Bachelors degree in Public Relations and Journalism from Troy University in 2002 and her Masters degree in Business Administration from Troy University Dothan in 2007. She was employed with Southe

ast Alabama Medical Center in the Marketing Department and later with the Medical Center Barbour in Eufaula as Marketing Director. At the time of her death she was employed with Troy University in Troy as a Community College Relations Coordinator. She was a member of Northview Christian Church and a former member of the Sardis Baptist Church where she served as the Minister of Music. Chasity was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. She was bold with her faith. She wasn't afraid to let everyone know. Being a Christian wasnt a new thing for her. The love of God and his son Jesus Christ was instilled in her since she was a small girl. She knew when things got hard to call on the name of Jesus. Remember: one of her favorite quotes: THE DEVIL IS A LIAR! The enemy attacked Chasity with a vengeance. Because she was such a strong follower of Christ he tried to break her down. But she didn't let him win. Even in her last hours she remained strong and kept her focus on God, her doctors said so. They were amazed to see a young woman with such strong faith.

💜 Our Champions make us proud! 💜 We received an update from Jazmyne Jones, a 2025 Chasity D. Barnes Memorial Scholarship recipient, and we’re so excited to celebrate all she’s accomplishing at Troy University! ✨

Jazmyne recently completed her sophomore year as a Biomedical Sciences major with a 3.5 GPA and is heading into her junior year this fall. Along with excelling academically, she’s continued growing her hairstyling business, Glammed by Jazz, and recently became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.

She’s also serving in leadership roles with the Sparkle Mentoring Club and the Black Student Union. Her dream is to become a cosmetic dentist and own her own practice one day, and we have no doubt she’s on her way!

Jazmyne, thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey. Keep shining! 💫

Last night was special. 💜🎓 Seeing Zach graduate high school surrounded by family was very special. Chasity loved her only nephew so much, and we couldn’t help but think about how proud she would be seeing the young man he’s become. From the little baby she used to hold to this big graduation moment, what a blessing it’s been to watch him grow. Congratulations, Zach! We know Aunt Chasity would be cheering the loudest!

💜 This is why we do it. 💜 We recently heard from one of our previous scholarship recipients, Anecia Daniels, who received the Chasity D. Barnes Memorial Scholarship back in 2016, and we couldn’t be more proud!

Anecia has earned her Bachelor’s degree in Early Child Development from Auburn University and is a preschool teacher, helping shape young minds every single day.

Her journey is a beautiful reminder that everyone’s path looks different, and sometimes success takes time, but perseverance pays off. Anecia, thank you for sharing your update with us. You are making the Chasity’s Champions family proud!

Chasity absolutely adored her only nephew. We can only imagine how proud she would be watching him graduate high school and step into this next chapter of life. One thing’s for sure: he has always carried a piece of her love with him. 💜

Congratulations, nephew. Aunt Chasity would be smiling BIG! 🎓

💙🖤 If you knew Chasity… you knew about Penny! 🖤💙 Caught here in full Orlando Magic gear, getting ready to go see her FAVORITE player, Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway. And listen, this was no casual fan situation! 😄 Chasity had the posters, the bedsheets, the pillows… all of it. She was all in!

She loved to have fun, loved the excitement of moments like this, and wasn’t afraid to show it. That joy, that energy, that enthusiasm, that was so her.

We know some of her friends remember this era real well!

A special moment at Troy University 💜 This weekend, Chasity’s family had the honor of attending a wonderful brunch recognizing scholarship donors and recipients. It was a great reminder of how lives are being changed through education.

It was especially nice to spend time with Dr. Jack Hawkins, Troy University's Chancellor, as we continue to celebrate the scholarship established in Chasity’s name. Seeing her legacy live on in this way is truly something special.

🙌🏽 Just checking in on greatness! 🙌🏽 We recently had the chance to catch up with one of our own, Bryce Brown, our 2023 Chasity D. Barnes Memorial Scholarship recipient, and let’s just say, he’s been BUSY!

Bryce is wrapping up his junior year at Tuskegee University, majoring in Health Science with a minor in Business Management, with plans to pursue a career in physical therapy. And that’s not all. Among other activities, including a work study job, he’s also serving as Vice Basileus of the Lambda Epsilon Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.! 💜💛

It brings us so much joy to reconnect with our scholarship recipients and see all the amazing things they’re accomplishing. Bryce, we are so thankful you’re a part of the Chasity’s Champions family. You’re making us proud, and we’re cheering you on every step of the way!

Keep going! Your future is bright!
