The mission of WISE Scholars Foundation is to serve individuals and strengthen communities by promoting post-secondary education and decreasing dropout through college preparatory resources including, but not limited to, assistance with high-school completion, academia tutorials, test-taking preparation, career-planning, mentorship, technological resources, assistance with the enrollment in and th

e expenses of attending college, transitioning from high-school to college, and the incorporation of many sectors such as the business sector to assist individuals with employment and other stimulating opportunities while attending school. The purpose for which WISE Scholars Foundation was formed is to operate exclusively for charitable, educational, scientific, and literary purposes within the meaning of Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended (the Code) and corresponding provisions of subsequent United States Internal Revenue laws. WISE Scholars Foundation will not discriminate on the basis of age, disability, gender, religion, or race. However, special attention will be directed towards those individuals considered at-risk or socio-economically disadvantaged. WISE Scholars Foundation will operate under the values that education is important and that all children can learn given the appropriate resources and mentorship opportunities. WISE Scholars Foundation believes that early educational motivation is pertinent to postsecondary attainment and that it benefits smaller communities and the larger society by eliminating many factors often attributed to a lack of postsecondary education, such as unemployment, crime, and poverty.

This 60-page activity book is both educational and fun. It has reading, writing, listening, and speaking activities. There are science, matching, and dictionary lessons to promote learning across the board. The book includes a crossword puzzle, word search, and word scramble. WISE Scholars Foundation would like to reward students who have demonstrated a commitment to furthering their postsecondary education.

Three college students will be selected to receive a new HP Pavilion TouchSmart laptop in recognition of their hard work.
Four-year, two-year, and vocational students are encouraged to apply.

Applicants are invited to submit an essay on why they should be chosen to receive this laptop and how they demonstrate the principles of WISE Scholars Foundation: Willingness, Intellect, Sincerity, Enthusiasm.

Submissions should be emailed to [email protected].

Please note the following guidelines:

1. Submissions must be between 1500-2000 words and be an original work.

2. Submissions must include a letter of recommendation from a current or former college professor.

3. Applicants must be currently registered and in their first or second year of college.

4. Applicants must reside and attend college in Atlanta, Georgia.

The deadline for submission is November 4, 2013 by 5:00 p.m. EST.

The winners will be invited to enjoy a meal at Pascal's Restaurant (http://www.paschalsatlanta.com/) where a member(s) of the Board of Directors of WISE Scholars Foundation will present their prizes.

The three winners will also have their essays and pictures featured on our website under “Spotlight on Education” at www.wisescholarsfoundation.org.
