Empowering Youth to Communicate Science with Confidence

At our youth programs, we don’t just encourage students to participate in science fairs—we train them to confidently present their research and ideas.

Students learn how to clearly explain their scientific projects, present their data and findings, communicate with judges and audiences, and answer questions with confidence and critical thinking

Through coaching and practice sessions, youth develop the skills needed to turn curiosity into discovery and discovery into a powerful presentation.

These experiences help students build confidence, communication skills, and a deeper understanding of science, preparing them for future academic and career opportunities.

Our goal is simple: help young scientists find their voice and share their ideas with the world.

💬 Question: Did you ever participate in a science fair? What was your project about?

A Special Visit from National 4-H Council at Tuskegee University

Tuskegee University recently welcomed leaders from National 4-H Council to experience firsthand the impact of youth programs taking place through the Tuskegee University Cooperative Extension Program.

During their visit, guests had the opportunity to see how youth are developing real-world skills through hands-on learning in drone training, financial literacy, agriculture, and agricultural robotics. These programs are designed to prepare young people to be Beyond Ready for the future.

The visit also highlighted the rich history and legacy of innovation at Tuskegee University. The group toured the Legacy Museum, where they learned about the remarkable contributions of George Washington Carver and Thomas Monroe Campbell, the nation’s first Extension agent. They also visited the historic Mobile Classroom, where Extension education first began reaching farmers and communities across the region.

One of the most inspiring moments of the day was attending the George Washington Carver Oratorical Competition, where youth delivered powerful speeches demonstrating their leadership, confidence, and knowledge. The event concluded with students being inducted into the George Washington Carver Society, recognizing their dedication to learning and leadership.

It was a meaningful day that connected history, innovation, and youth leadership, showcasing how Tuskegee University continues its mission of empowering the next generation.

Buzzing with Learning at EXERT Camp!

Campers at EXERT Camp had an exciting opportunity to learn about the fascinating world of bees and beekeeping with Dr. Harold Higgins and Carnel MacAlpine. During this hands-on session, youth discovered why bees are so important to our environment and food systems. From pollinating crops to supporting healthy ecosystems, bees play a critical role in helping plants grow and produce the foods we enjoy every day.

Campers also explored the basics of beekeeping, why pollinators are essential to agriculture, and products made from bees such as honey, beeswax, and other natural goods. Through engaging demonstrations and discussion, students gained a deeper appreciation for these incredible pollinators and the important role they play in sustaining our planet.

Experiences like this help youth connect science, agriculture, and nature while preparing them to become the next generation of environmental leaders.

💬 Question for you: What is your favorite product made from honey or beeswax?
