🦖🔧 Dino Builders in Action! 🔧🦖

Our students put their creativity, engineering skills, and problem-solving skills to the test as they worked together to build their very own dinosaurs! From following the design guide to putting the pieces together, they had a ROAR-some time learning through hands-on STEM!

Back-to-school is in full swing here at BGCWA, and our Club Kids are already putting their creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork skills to work!

From our K–1st graders building windmills, roller coasters, and 3D shapes to our 4th–5th graders stepping into the roles of architects and engineers, our Club Kids are designing, building, exploring, and learning together. These hands-on challenges are showing them that big ideas can come in all shapes and sizes, and that great ideas are even better when we communicate, collaborate, and work as a team!

We love seeing our future engineers and architects learn by doing at the Clubs!

Last week, Boys & Girls Clubs of West Alabama was honored to be a recipient at the annual Nick’s Kids Foundation Giveaway Luncheon. Our Chief Development Officer attended with her daughter and had the opportunity to experience firsthand the generosity, heart and community spirit that make this day so special. 🎒✨

Great things happen when organizations come together. 💙

Thanks to United Way of West Alabama, AT&T and Compudopt, 56 Boys & Girls Clubs of West Alabama families received laptops and backpacks to help them begin the school year with greater access to learning, opportunity and connection.

These are more than laptops. They are tools for completing homework, building technology skills, searching for jobs, staying connected with schools and pursuing a brighter future.

As one parent shared:

“This gift is more than just a computer. It is an opportunity to learn, grow, and build a better future.”

We are also grateful to Alabama State Senator Gerald Allen for joining us and encouraging families to help young people use technology safely, responsibly and confidently.

What a summer to celebrate! 💙

Yesterday, our BGCWA team came together for our Staff Appreciation Luncheon to enjoy time together, celebrate a successful summer, and recognize the incredible people who make our Clubs such special places for kids.

Now we’re recharged and excited for what’s next! Our team is jumping into training, planning, and preparing for a great back-to-school and after-school season ahead. We can’t wait to welcome our Club Kids back!

When a community comes together, incredible things happen. 💙

This summer, when the AC went out at our Greensboro Club, we knew our community would step up to support our Club Kids, and they did in a BIG way.

A special thank you to Mayor Howard, Pastor Doug and Greensboro First United Methodist Church, Scott Reynolds of Reynolds Electric, Project Horseshoe Farm, and the countless community members, volunteers and supporters who helped us navigate this unexpected challenge.

From helping us secure temporary spaces so our kids could continue to have a safe place to go, to coming together to help make the long-term repair possible, Greensboro showed us once again what it means to take care of one another.

We are incredibly grateful for a community that believes in our kids and shows up when they need it most. This is what community looks like. 💙

☀️ What an amazing summer!

We can't believe our Summer Program has already come to an end. 💙 Thank you to all of our incredible Club Kids, families, staff, volunteers and supporters for making this summer full of fun, learning, laughter and unforgettable memories.

As we get ready for an exciting school year, all Boys & Girls Clubs of West Alabama locations will be closed July 27 through August 7 for staff training. We'll be back and ready to welcome everyone on August 10 for our After School Program! 🎒📚

UPDATE: Power has been restored at our Jaycee Park Club much earlier than anticipated. However, some systems are still coming back online following the outage, so today’s early dismissal will remain in effect.

JPU families, please continue with arrangements to pick up your child as soon as possible. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to ensure the safety and comfort of our Club Kids. 💙

Each month, our Clubs recognize one Club Kid who stands out for being a positive example to others through their attitude, leadership, kindness, and willingness to help. We're proud to celebrate our July Youth of the Month recipients!

Greensboro Club's Youth of the Month is Legacy Brifford. Legacy joined the Club this summer and has already made a big impact. She has stepped out of her shell, made new friends, and is always caring and kind to those around her. Her favorite parts of the Club are computer time, field trips, and spending time with her friends.

Hasson Club's Youth of the Month is Braylen Chandler. Braylen is a great role model for the younger boys at the Club. He enjoys playing basketball, loves eating wings, and consistently sets a positive example for those around him.

Jaycee Park Club's Youth of the Month is Ava Elliott. Ava is always willing to help wherever she can. Whether she's lending a hand at the Club or helping others in her community, she has a servant's heart. She also enjoys spending her free time reading.

Congratulations, Legacy, Braylen, and Ava. We are so proud of you and thankful to have you representing what it means to be a Club Kid.
