Hello! We hope you are doing well!

Special Olympics College at UA will look a little different this season. We have been working very closely with the REC and Special Olympics Alabama. As of right now our program will be virtual. Cases are rising on campus and with many health concerns we feel that this is the best decision for our program with everyones health and safety in mind. Other programs within the state and many of our colleagues are doing the same as well.

We plan to meet on Sundays from 1-3 via zoom! I will be sending out a zoom link the Friday/Saturday before hand. We have a ton of fun activities planned such as virtual cooking class, netflix movies, yoga/stretching classes, and more! If your athlete has any suggestions or activities they would like to do please let me know and we will try our best to incorporate them.

This is a rough schedule we have outlined that follows the Universities schedule! If anything changes I will let you know!

Sunday, September 13th
Sunday, September 20th
Sunday, September 27th

Sunday, October 4th
Sunday, October 11th
Sunday, October 18th
Sunday October 25th

Sunday, November 8th
Sunday, November 15th

Sunday, December 6th

We will continue to monitor COVID cases around the state and on campus. I hope that at some point we can transition to in person activities such as walking/running or strength training! Thank you so so much for your patience and we look forward to seeing everyone on zoom! As always if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out.

Yesterday, Tyler Delfino the newly elected President of Sigma Tau Gamma - University of Alabama stopped by our Special Olympics Unified Rivalry game and presented our club with an extremely generous check! This is the largest donation our club has every received! We cannot thank the brothers of Sig Tau for their generosity enough. This check is a game changer for our program and will allow us to continue providing unified sports to individuals with intellectual disabilities in the surrounding Tuscaloosa area. We truly value your continuous volunteer support at practices and games, you all are a great example of “Where Legends are Made!” ROLL TIDE!
