Photo Flashback: March 21 ~ The Books Come Alive Dance was an incredible evening! The table decorations were fantastic . . . each one unique and painstakingly crafted, with the books literally coming to life! It would be difficult to pick a favorite. Most of the attendees showed up in imaginative costumes -- carrying their books in hand. Congrats to our winners of the costume contest: Diana Secor as the perfect Mary Poppins (1st Place) and Regina & Butch Noland, decked out beautifully as Daisy Buchanan & Jay Gatsby (2nd Place). Thank you to all who participated in the fun and snacks. Many thanks to Tricia Schuster for choosing this theme and creating the ingenious decorations. The evening was made even more special by the return of the band, Chekmates. TBDC gave them a warm welcome back by keeping the dance floor lively all night. Two door prizes were given away at the break -- one was donated by Bellagio Nail Spa and the other donated by our Emerald Sponsor, Barkley Buick GMC Cadillac (brought by Bonnie Porter). We were happy to welcome special guest, Hui Pan of SWEN Chinese Restaurants, our Sapphire sponsor. Also, remember our next event, Enchanted Forest Dance, April 18, 2026!!

Saturday, March 21, 2026 ~ One of the most original themes TBDC and PARA4Life has ever presented . . . Books Come Alive Dance will delight and capture the imagination of all those who attend. Be prepared to be amazed! And to make the evening even more interesting, you are invited to dress up as your favorite book character! Prizes will be awarded with extra points given for bringing your book with you. It promises to be an evening of fun. For your listening and dancing enjoyment, the Chekmates will be there! After a year-long hiatus, Anthony Marino will bring the regrouped version of the Chekmates to Tuscaloosa for its debut. Anthony reports that the band will offer much new music for ballroom dancing.

Feb 21st Mardi Gras Dance ~ Way Down Yonder in New Orleans was the first number played by the great Drew White Orchestra … and it set the tone for the whole evening! Attendees arrived dressed for Mardi Gras …bright colors, masks and beads! The decorations, expertly provided by Carol and Tom Russell, were perfect for the occasion. Displays of beautiful and unique masks, and colorful beads adorned the tables as well as the photo backdrops. Everyone definitely got into the spirit of Mardi Gras and the good times rolled!! And Happy 56th Anniversary to Janet & John Weber❣️

The inimitable sounds of “5 of a Kind” band, January 17th, at TBDC’s Black & White Ball. As usual, Chuck King was awesome on trumpet that night.
