# TABCC May Members Meeting Recap
π **Huntington Bank (formerly Cadence Bank), Tuscaloosa**
π
**May 28, 2026**
The Tuscaloosa Area Black Chamber of Commerce (TABCC) was pleased to host another engaging and informative Members Meeting focused on one of our five strategic pillars for 2026: **Access to Capital**.
We were excited to welcome **14 attendees**, including two new TABCC members:
π **Healing Steps Movement** β LaWanda Vanhorn-Rossell
π **S & P Mobile Notary LLC** β Tameka Spencer
We would also like to recognize **Huntington National Bank (formerly Cadence Bank)** as a **2026 TABCC Gold Corporate Partner**. Their continued commitment to supporting entrepreneurs, small businesses, and economic growth throughout West Alabama has been instrumental to TABCC's success. We are grateful for their partnership, including hosting our monthly meetings and investing in our mission of connecting businesses to opportunities and resources.
A special thank you goes to **Roderick Perkins, Lead Lender Relations Specialist with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA)**, for delivering an outstanding presentation on SBA programs, lending opportunities, and funding readiness.
Mr. Perkins did an exceptional job breaking down complex funding concepts into practical, easy-to-understand information that resonated with both aspiring and established business owners. Through three real-world case studies, attendees gained valuable insight into how lenders evaluate businesses, assess risk, and determine whether a company is ready for financing.
The session reinforced a critical message: **preparation matters.** Understanding your financial position, business structure, and growth strategy can significantly improve your ability to access capital and position your business for long-term success.
Based on the tremendous feedback received, TABCC looks forward to bringing Mr. Perkins back for a more in-depth funding readiness workshop in the near future. Stay tuned for additional details.
As we continue our **"60 in 2026" Membership Campaign**, TABCC remains committed to helping entrepreneurs and professionals grow their businesses through education, networking, partnerships, and access to resources. Membership remains open, and we encourage individuals and businesses throughout West Alabama to join us.
