🔥 Passing the Torch 🔥
Serving on COE-GSO this year has been a true honor. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to elevate graduate student voices—bringing your concerns to the Dean and College leadership, helping shape meaningful events and workshops, and supporting funding opportunities that allowed many of you to present your work at conferences.
From Meet & Eats to Write & Unwind, every event we planned was grounded in what you shared you needed. Getting to know our members through this work has been one of the most rewarding parts of this experience.
To the 2026–2027 Executive Board—we trust you fully to carry this work forward. We know you will continue to advocate, build community, and create opportunities that support COE graduate students in meaningful ways.
Thank you to everyone who trusted us to serve. It has meant more than we can say.
Onward and upward! !

🎉 Travel Funding Highlight 🎉
Congratulations to this COE-GSO travel funding recipient, who presented her research at the Research Council on Mathematics Learning (RCML) Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.
She presented “From Errors to Reasoning: A Debugging Perspective — Error-Centered Task Design in Algebra 1,” exploring how curriculum-based error tasks shape students’ mathematical reasoning. Her findings show most materials focus on surface-level errors, with limited attention to deeper reasoning.
To address this, she introduced Mathematical Debugging, a process for tracing and reconstructing student thinking.
The conference provided valuable opportunities for feedback, collaboration, and continued growth as a Ph.D. student.
We are proud to support our graduate students as they contribute meaningful research to mathematics education. 👏
