Meet the COE-GSO Executive Board! 👋

Meet Joyce Amponsah Animah, our COE-GSO Treasurer!

Joyce is a Ph.D. student in Curriculum and Instruction (Literacies & Languages) at The University of Alabama. Her research focuses on children’s literature, inclusive literacy, multimodality, ESL education, and culturally responsive teaching, with the goal of supporting more equitable literacy outcomes for multilingual learners.

She stepped into the executive board role without prior COE-GSO experience and quickly became someone we can rely on for the careful, behind-the-scenes work that makes so many of our activities possible.

If you’ve enjoyed the food at a COE-GSO event or benefited from funding connected to our programming, chances are Joyce has been working behind the scenes to help make it happen. We’re incredibly proud of the care, consistency, and hard work she brings to the board.

Beyond COE-GSO, Joyce enjoys mentoring students and conducting educational research, and she is passionate about advancing inclusive literacy through research, service, and leadership.

Meet the COE-GSO Executive Board! 👋

Meet Sundus, our COE-GSO Secretary!

Sundus is a third-year PhD student in Educational Research, where she brings together her background in health professions education and qualitative research. She previously represented ESPRMC as a Board Member Representative before stepping into her current role as Secretary.

She helped bring several COE-GSO moments to life last year, from International Education Week and Write & Unwind to presenting at Meet & Eat.

And this year? You’ll probably see her everywhere. 😄 Whether she’s helping plan an event, connecting with graduate students, or working behind the scenes to keep things moving.

We can’t wait to see what she gets involved in next! 💙
