🩵 Faces of Prevention 🩵
Meet Nan Glaus, Parent Resource Associate with Alabama’s Parenting Assistance Line (PAL) at UA Child Development Resources and one of the dedicated individuals helping strengthen families across Alabama.
For the past 15 years, Nan has been connecting parents, grandparents, caregivers, childcare providers, and professionals with valuable parenting information, child development resources, and community support. She travels throughout the state to attend workshops, community fairs, parenting meetings, trainings, and family events, helping families learn about the resources available to them.
Nan also plays an important role behind the scenes by researching child and family resources and community events to share through PAL by Text. From food banks and fatherhood events to back-to-school fairs and family fun days, her work helps families stay connected to resources and opportunities in their communities.
What makes Nan truly special is the compassion she brings to every interaction. When answering calls through the Parenting Assistance Line, she listens with patience and empathy, taking the time to understand each family’s unique circumstances and connect them with thoughtful, practical resources. Her commitment to lifelong learning also ensures that the information she provides is current and evidence based.
When asked to describe Nan in one word, her team chose “compassionate.” Her kindness, dedication, and commitment to supporting Alabama’s children and families are a true example of what prevention looks like in action.
Thank you, Nan, for being a Face of Prevention!
