The purpose of Alpha Omicron Kappa, Incorporated is to nurture and encourage scholastic achievement and leadership skills, as well as promote unity and sisterhood among high school girls while diligently serving the community. Kappa League is a national leadership organization for young men led by the gentlemen of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. In 2006, the Northport Chapter of Kappa Le
ague tapped several young ladies from the Tuscaloosa City and County high schools to form Kappa League Sweethearts. As Kappa League Sweethearts, their duties included assisting with fundraising, event promotion, hosting events, and community service. Due to the negative connotation associated with the term “Sweetheart,” the name was changed. These ladies went on to become the founding members of Alpha Omicron Kappa. Along with the name change, Alpha Omicron Kappa evolved to become its own entity with its own purpose, mission, and values.
