Our Hops & Hobbies Club completed their grapevine wreaths last Thursday evening. They all turned out awesome and unique—just like our 4-H’ers!!

It is great to see projects come together and kids learning new skills. We also saw “early finishers” stepping up to begin cleaning up without being asked, which gave other kids the time to finish their project. Great leadership!

Next month the club will be working on fishing hooks and knot tying. 🎣🎣

I can’t wait to see what else comes next for this fun club! It’s not too late to register. We’ve got space for your kids, ages 9-18!

Our Horse Club had their first meeting last night, and it was also the awards banquet from last year. Scheduling got away from us, and this turned out to be a great way to kick off the new year!

We discussed how to earn and keep up with club points, including educational and volunteer points. This seemed to be very encouraging for our new members!

We appreciate our community sponsors because we could not provide awards and recognition for our members without their support. Thank you, RiverFall Credit Union and Warrior Tractor & Equipment Company, Inc.!

Mrs. Jan and Mrs. Heather have a great year of 4-H planned for the Horse Club! It’s not too late to register, and if you missed last night, we hope to see you in November!

Slow motion!!! We love helping provide exciting experiences for our kids, and today At students from Hillcrest and Brookwood participated in the Tuscaloosa County Natural Resource Planning Committee Land Tour. Friends from the Alabama Hawking Association brought three birds and taught everyone about raptors and what it takes to be a falconer. Morgan from Hillcrest catches Fiona, a red tailed hawk!

I love being part of the TCSS K-12 AG Farm Field Trip program! I get to see elementary and high school students engaged and learning through hands on activities!

The high school ag students are responsible for caring for the animals and the farm—including maintaining the pastures, fences, and roads.

Elementary students rotate through stations where they see how our food is grown, how to care for livestock, and learn more about our natural resources.

Today, high school students in the Future Teachers of Alabama were at the farm helping prepare and teach some of the stations. It was great seeing them interacting with the kids (and learning some ag stuff too! 😉)

Alabama 4-H promotes “learning by doing,” and that’s just what is happening at the Farm! I am glad I get to be involved in this mission! 👩🏼‍🌾
