I love working with our volunteer leaders! Laura Martin is our new Livestock Club volunteer, and we mapped out some awesome activities and club meetings today. We have some tentative field trips in mind, and we are both excited to start the new 4-H club year!

If you are interested in volunteering with our 4-H program, I am here to help you every step of the way! Tuscaloosa County is blessed with the best volunteer leaders—we couldn’t provide 4-H without them!

Plus, they all turn into great friends! ♥️

🐴 Saddle Up, Tuscaloosa County — Horse Club is Back! 🐴

You don't need a horse in the pasture to belong in this club — you just need a love for these amazing animals and a willingness to learn!

This year we're covering it all:
🐎 Horse care & best practices — feeding, grooming, and everyday horsemanship
🧠 Hippology — because knowing your horse inside and out makes you a better horseperson
🩹 What to do when a horse is sick or injured — practical skills every horse lover needs
🎉 Plenty of fun — meet other horse-crazy friends and make memories that'll last a lifetime

Whether you're an experienced rider or you've just always loved horses from afar, there's a place for you in the barn (or the classroom!).

Whether you've got a show barn full of animals or you've never touched a halter in your life — Tuscaloosa County 4-H Livestock Club has a seat saved for you!

This year we're diving into everything cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs — from the basics of care and nutrition to hands-on livestock judging, where you'll learn to think (and argue!) like the pros. 🏆

👉 You do NOT have to own or show an animal to join the herd. If you love agriculture, enjoy animals, and want to make some great friends along the way, you're already qualified.

🐰 Hop Into Something New — Hops & Hobbies Club! 🐰

Some exciting news, Tuscaloosa County — our rabbit club is hopping into a bigger adventure! Rabbits are still very much welcome, but we're expanding our horizons to explore all the amazing projects Alabama 4-H has to offer.

🎨 Arts & crafts
🌱 Gardening & horticulture
🍳 Cooking & food science
🐇 ...and yes, rabbits too!

Hops & Hobbies Club is all about trying new things, discovering your next favorite hobby, and having fun while you do it — no experience (or rabbit) required!

Whether you're a longtime bunny lover or just curious about what 4-H has to offer, this is the club for you. Come explore, create, and find your passion project.

This is a great opportunity to explore The Great Outdoors and learn more about our natural resources. Registration is open and available to all ages, so bring your family!

Get ready to explore Northern Tuscaloosa County! The Tuscaloosa County Natural Resource Planning Committee is excited to invite you to the upcoming Tuscaloosa County Land Tour on October 1st.

This is a great opportunity to get out on the land, learn, connect with others, and see firsthand what makes the land and resources of Tuscaloosa County so special. Whether you’re a landowner, agricultural producer, outdoor enthusiast, or simply interested in learning more about the area, we’d love to have you join us!

Lunch will be provided.

Date: Thursday, October 1, 2026

Location: Northern Tuscaloosa County—The exact meeting address will be provided upon registration.

Registration Fee: $10 per person — cash or check, payable the day of the event
