This week we tried something new. Shé, who keeps our kitchen running, blessed us by cooking her AMAZING fried catfish! Do you want to guess how many pounds of fish she fried? If you guessed 120lbs, you would be correct. Then to top it off, she made some cheesy grits for our Soup Bowl family meal.

This is Dee. He didn’t want his picture taken at first. He is the man behind the scenes making sure there is plenty of food for our tables. Some days we serve over 550 plates and we never run out. He is always good for a laugh and doesn’t take things too seriously…except cooking. He takes his food seriously, especially when he fries us up some treats when the kitchen is closed.
Also, Dee’s shirt is our new mascot. Smiles for Everyone!!

Believe or not, it is October (someone let the weather know). We want to thank all the people that came by to volunteer or drop off food donations. We ended the month serving over 500 plates a day. We don't always grab a pic of our volunteers but we do want to thank the groups like Weeping Mary Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue EMS Prevention, and the University of Alabama's own Greg Bryne for helping us serve food. Roll Tide! And to our regular volunteers and staff, Thank You!!

FUMCT members recently had the joy of serving lunch at the Community Soup Bowl, a ministry our church has been proud to support since its beginning. We’re grateful for every opportunity to serve alongside our mission partners and care for our neighbors in Tuscaloosa!

Sometimes we make bread pudding with bread Publix donates. We hear there is a bread pudding trail in Tuscaloosa. We think we should be added.

Every Friday we are able to provide an extra to-go plate to our guests thanks to the generous food donations from all of the Chick-fil-A restaurants in Tuscaloosa. From waffles to mac n cheese, they have us covered.

We celebrated all of our grandparents today with a fun plinko game. Each grandparent left with a treat donated by Publix.
