Community Soup Bowl

Community Soup Bowl We seek to provide a warm & inviting atmosphere by opening our doors 7 days a week to welcome & feed the hungry of Tuscaloosa. Matthew 25:35,40

Founded in 1983, the Community Soup Bowl began with a simple vision — to help feed the community’s hungry — cooking soup in the kitchens of some of Tuscaloosa’s downtown churches. Three decades later, the Community Soup Bowl continues to serve hundreds of hot meals every day, with the help of the five founding downtown churches: First Baptist, First African Baptist, First United Methodist, First P

resbyterian and Christ Episcopal and a host of many volunteers. We are located at 1711 23rd Avenue, Tuscaloosa, AL. If you would like to volunteer or make a donation, please call 205-752-2421 or mail your check to Community Soup Bowl 1711 23rd Avenue Tuscaloosa, AL 35401

Our Founding Churches came together with a simple vision: feed our neighbors. Today, that faith-motivated service continues through the hands of hundreds of volunteers and donors across Tuscaloosa.

We are so grateful for the foundation they built. Want to be part of the legacy? Sign up to volunteer or make a donation at the link in our bio. ⛪ 💙

What does a meal at the Soup Bowl look like? 🍽️

It’s about care. A typical plate might be pulled pork, homemade mac and cheese, fresh green beans, and a cold drink. But more importantly, it’s served with a smile, in a safe space, with no questions asked.

We believe how you feed someone matters just as much as that you feed them.

Help us serve today’s menu by donating $3 at the link below, or share this post to spread the word! 💙

Since 1983, Tuscaloosa has been feeding Tuscaloosa.

That's more than 40 years of neighbors showing up for neighbors. Of Founding Churches, volunteers, local businesses, and everyday donors deciding that no one in this community should go without a hot meal.

We're here because you keep showing up.

$3 looks like a hot plate, a warm room, and an open door for whoever walks through it, no questions asked.

Because of you, our Christmas in July event last month was a beautiful day of food, fun, and community. Here is a look at exactly what your generosity made possible:

🎒 300+ backpacks given to students (Pre-K through 12th grade) to help them start the school year right.

🍽️ Over 400 neighbors served a hot, dignified meal.

Every attendee also got to enjoy a BBQ lunch, a snack bag, games, and shaved ice - all provided by our incredible local donors and sponsors.

This is what neighbors helping neighbors looks like. Thank you to everyone who pitched in to make sure no one left hungry and every student left prepared!

Getting in those last volunteer hours before the school bells ring! 🎒🏫

We are so incredibly grateful for the students in our Tuscaloosa community who spent part of their summer break serving hot meals to our neighbors. Whether you’re pouring drinks or passing out trays, you are making a tangible difference right here at home. Thank you for showing up for your community! 💛

Want to join them on the serving line? We are always looking for smiling faces to help serve.

Christmas in July happened, and Tuscaloosa showed up. 💛

Together, we served over 400 neighbors and gave away 300+ backpacks to children preparing for Pre-K through 12th grade. Every guest also enjoyed a BBQ lunch, a snack bag, games, and shaved ice - all generously provided by our amazing donors and sponsors.

Thank you to every volunteer, sponsor, and neighbor who made this day possible. You turned a summer afternoon into something our guests will carry with them.

This is what it looks like when a community takes care of its own. If you want to keep this generosity going year-round, a gift to the Soup Bowl's daily mission makes a difference every single day.
