Often times black women are viewed as over exaggerated, aggressive, and angry. Continuously, black women are overlooked, misunderstood, and under-cared for. History repeats itself yet again as the Megan Thee Stallion vs. Torey Lanez case has unfolded. In 2020, Megan accused Tory of shooting her in the foot. On December 30th, he was found guilty of all charges against him. Tory has publicly lied and embarrassed her, expanding the gateway for thousands, including other rappers to hop on the “I hate black women” train. It’s proven that black women are treated as the villian in every story, when in reality, their the victim. The mental health of black women is so important.
“Being a “strong” black woman is not always a compliment. It may be a defense mechanism. It may be a cry out for help because black women, are tired of not being cared for. It shows up in hospitals, at work, in a grocery store, schools, and even in our homes. Black women are humans and we hurt too.
