Did you know goats are one of the earliest livestock animals ever domesticated by humans? 🐐

We are talking over 10,000 years ago!

And honestly after spending time with ours we completely understand why. They are curious, clever, hilarious and absolutely full of personality. Ancient humans knew what they were doing.

We are feeling really grateful for everything this awesome community built and are continuing to build and we just want to share that. 🐾🧡

Last weekend we had our second volunteer day and it was so wonderful to have people come out and lend a hand. It really does make a difference. More than people probably realize. Having extra hands even for just a few hours helps us catch up in ways that ripple through the whole month!

We also recently wrangled a second volunteer into helping us throughout the week and that has been equally amazing. He has been amazing at tackling some of the many weekly tasks and we are finally finding breathing room to focus on projects we want to finish!

We also have sponsors for some of the sanctuary horses and someone just started sponsoring the goats! That kind of ongoing support is such a gift and we are so grateful for every single person who has committed to showing up for these animals in that way. 🐐🐴

And if that was not enough to make us smile, the wildflowers we planted last year are all coming up right now. We are literally watching the fruits of our labor grow and it just feels really good. 🌸

Whether you have volunteered, donated, sponsored an animal, shared a post or just been along for the ride we see you and we are really thankful for you. There is a lot coming and we are so excited to keep building this with all of you. 🙏🧡

Were two roadside kitten rescues on today's agenda? Absolutely not. But sometimes the universe has other plans. 🐾

Earlier today, my mom was on her way to visit when she called me in a panic. A tiny kitten had suddenly darted out in front of her car. She was only inches away from hitting it. Thankfully, she was able to pull over and safely scoop the little one up.

We immediately went back to assess the situation and search the area. Before long, we found a second kitten hiding nearby. We searched for their mother and any remaining littermates, but unfortunately found no sign of them.

What makes this even more heartbreaking is that this is an extremely busy road, and just a few days ago we found a deceased adult cat in the same area. We can't know for sure, but we're worried she may have been these babies' mom.

So, just like that, we have two unexpected new intakes, one little boy and one little girl, who desperately need our help. ❤️

These kittens are now safe, but they still need everything else: veterinary care, food, supplies, and eventually loving forever homes. Their initial vet care alone will cost approximately $300.

It’s been a while since we’ve given a Blaze update!!!! 🐶🧡

Blaze has been doing much better! He is still covered in tumors and riddled with arthritis, but he continues to be a happy dog! With all the testing we’ve done, nothing has blatantly pointed to him having cancer, so at this time, we are believing that his tumors are benign. However, they often times make him feel uncomfortable because they can become painful. Blaze is a trooper and continues to work through his bad days with a literal smile on his face! Thankfully, he has much recently been having good days almost all of the time, but every so often he will get sore.

He was started on an allergy medication that has helped him feel so much better. He is holding weight well and overall seems like a completely different dog, happy and incredibly healthy compared to the condition he came to us in! What a glow up for Blaze!!!

BREAKING NEWS 🚨🔔 MEXICO SHUT DOWN FOR HORSE SLAUGHTER!

The USDA reports the Mexican border for equine horse slaughter export is CLOSED!

Texas based horse slaughter holding facilities cannot ship their horses to Mexico OR Canada!

Texas has reported cases of New World screwworm in livestock entering from affected regions, raising concerns about the parasite spreading into U.S. herds.

In response, animal health officials increased surveillance and movement restrictions, contributing to the closure of horse slaughter export routes through Mexico.

New World screwworm is a flesh-eating parasite that lays eggs in open wounds, and the larvae can cause severe injury or death in livestock and wildlife.

Because of concerns about the parasite spreading northward, restrictions were placed on certain animal movements and exports involving Mexico.

As a result, horse slaughter export routes through Mexico have been disrupted while animal health officials work to prevent the disease from spreading.

This is a developing story we are following very closely.

How will this affect Canadian horse slaughter?

All eyes turned to CCR for more updates as this story develops.

Pickles the bunny is ready to get fixed so she can go to her foster home!!! 🏠🥒🐰

Who remembers Pickles, the dumped bunny in Williamstown we rescued in early April? She was the most DIFFICULT dumped bun I’ve ever had to catch! She was super smart and stealthy, but we were able to bring her to safety here at the rescue!

Yet- she is the sweetest bunny once she was given some love and attention. This girl is doing fantastic and will be ready to go to the perfect adoptive home soon.

Please consider donating towards her spay bill this weekend- the total is $140.

Currently we have raise $102 out of $140 towards her spay, please help us pay for her medical care so that she can find her perfect home!

We also need a transporter to bring her either to and or from the clinic tomorrow. Pickles is in Newfield NJ and would need to be dropped off at the clinic in Southampton by 9:15-10am. She will also need to be picked up from the clinic around 5:30pm and brought back to Newfield. Please message us if you are able to transport her!
