literally crying while making this video! cookie is a whole new cat after his dental surgery!!

cookie had been so uncomfortable for so long, he would hiss at the air, growl, swat, bite, the vet even had to put a “warning” label on his medication for us because he can get so aggressive.

yet, as soon as he was able to return, he was rolling around, happy, purring, and LETTING ME PET HIM!!! This is a big deal, because normally he will let me pet him for about a second before swatting. he was in so much pain, and now he can finally be free!

WE STILL DID NOT RAISE ENOUGH MONEY TO PAY FOR HIS VET BILLS AND HAD TO BORROW MONEY! WE STILL NEED TO RAISE $1000 TO PAY OFF OUR DEBT IMMEDIATELY! THANK YOU TO ALL WHO DONATED ANS SUPPORTED COOKIE! HIS TOTAL BILL WAS $1900!

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO HELP COOKIE!!! WE ARE STILL LOOKING TO RAISE $500, COOKIE NEEDS TO GO TO HIS VET APPOINTMENT TOMORROW!!!!

🚨 URGENT FUNDRAISER: HELP COOKIE GET OUT OF PAIN! 🚨

💔 We urgently need to raise $1,000–$2,000 for Cookie, a cat in our rescue who desperately needs all of his teeth removed due to severe stomatitis. 💔

Cookie has been living this painful condition, stomatitis , and we need your help to give him the relief that he deserves.

WHAT IS STOMATITIS?

Feline stomatitis is a severe, chronic inflammatory condition that causes painful inflammation and sores throughout a cat’s mouth. This is like having painful, inflamed gums and mouth sores. This makes eating, grooming, yawning, and even opening your mouth uncomfortable. For cats with stomatitis, this pain can be constant and debilitating.

Cats are incredibly good at hiding their pain, and it can affect everything from their willingness to eat to their personality and quality of life. Some cats become withdrawn, irritable, or defensive simply because they are hurting so badly. This is what has been going on with poor Cookie.

COOKIE DESERVES TO FEEL BETTER!!!

He has been in so much pain that he has developed a generally miserable attitude toward the world. It breaks our hearts to think about how uncomfortable he has been.

But we have already started treating him, and the change has been incredible Cookie has become exponentially friendlier and more comfortable since beginning treatment. We are getting to see glimpses of the happier, more relaxed cat hiding underneath all that pain.

Unfortunately, medication alone is not a long-term solution for Cookie. His veterinarian has recommended removing all of his teeth to give him the best chance of lasting relief.

Although it sounds extreme, cats can live happy, healthy lives without their teeth! For cats with severe stomatitis, dental extractions can significantly reduce inflammation and pain. This will dramatically improve their quality of life.

Cookie deserves the chance to live without constantly hurting. He deserves to feel comfortable, enjoy affection, and experience life without chronic mouth pain.

💰 OUR URGENT FUNDRAISING GOAL: $2,000

We have received an estimate for Cookie’s dental surgery, with costs ranging from approximately $1,000 to $2,000.

🐾 The lower estimate represents the cost if everything goes smoothly.

🐾 The higher estimate represents a worst-case scenario, allowing us to prepare for unexpected complications or additional costs during his dental procedure.

We are aiming to raise the full $2,000 because we already have veterinary bills owed for this month. As a rescue caring for so many animals, unexpected medical expenses can put us in a difficult position. We want to be prepared for the worst-case scenario rather than risk being unable to cover Cookie’s care when he needs it most.

Every dollar raised will help us get Cookie the treatment he desperately needs while allowing us to continue caring for the many other animals who depend on us.

🙏 HOW YOU CAN HELP:

❤️ Donate any amount you can. Even $5 makes a difference!
❤️ Share this post with your friends and family.
❤️ Help us spread the word so Cookie’s story reaches people who may be able to contribute.

If 100 people donated just $20, we would raise $2,000. Small donations truly add up!

We know times are difficult for so many people, and we are incredibly grateful for every single person who chooses to support our rescue, whether through donations, sharing our posts, or simply cheering us on.

Cookie cannot ask for help himself, so we are asking on his behalf. He has already shown us how much better he can feel with treatment, and we want to give him the opportunity to experience that comfort every single day.

Let’s help Cookie leave his painful past behind and give him the happier, healthier future he deserves. 🐱❤️

Recently, we discovered that a local, well-known and highly regarded rescue has been adopting animals into homes that we would consider inappropriate placements. We are keeping the rescue and details private at this time, but unfortunately, this is not the first time we've encountered questionable adoption standards.

We've seen rescues publicly educate people about proper animal care while failing to enforce those same standards when placing their own animals.

And we understand the pressure.

When rescues are overflowing and another animal is waiting to come in, saying yes to a less-than-ideal home creates space to save another life.

But at what point does "saving" an animal stop being enough?

If an animal has food, water and shelter but spends its life without appropriate space, enrichment, companionship, medical care or species-specific needs being met, have we actually fulfilled our responsibility to that animal?

Or have we simply moved the problem somewhere we no longer have to see it?

We don't pretend that there is an easy answer.

At our rescue, placements can take time because we are trying to find the best possible forever home. We require a contract, a phone interview and an enclosure check before adoption. And even with those safeguards, we have still had animals returned.

No system is perfect.

But that makes us even more concerned about what happens when safeguards disappear entirely.

There is responsibility on the adopter's side, too.

We will educate. We will answer questions. We will teach. We want people to succeed with their animals.

But in 2026, information about basic animal care is more accessible than it has ever been. If you're considering bringing an animal into your home, part of loving that animal is doing your own research before you do it.

Learn what they eat. Learn how much space they need. Learn about enrichment. Learn about common medical needs. Learn what appropriate housing looks like. Learn what you're committing to for the next several years.

Rescue cannot simultaneously be responsible for finding the animal, catching the animal, transporting the animal, funding the animal, arranging veterinary care, housing the animal, finding the foster, educating the adopter, providing lifelong troubleshooting, and then making room for the next emergency.

Something has to change.

Animal rescue was never supposed to mean that a small group of people sacrifice indefinitely while everyone else points them toward the next animal who needs saving.

A community cannot outsource its compassion.

So we want to open this conversation, especially to other rescuers, fosters and adopters:

Where does a rescue's responsibility end and the community's responsibility begin? And when resources are desperately limited, is placing an animal in an imperfect home better than leaving another animal without a chance at all?

We genuinely don't think those questions have simple answers.

Please keep the discussion respectful. This isn't about attacking individual rescues, adopters or people asking for help. It's about having an honest conversation about a rescue system that is stretched beyond its limits and what all of us owe the animals caught inside it.

🩷🐇 THIS IS GETTING CRAZY! WHY HAVEN’T LIBBY & GINGER BEEN ADOPTED YET???🐇🩷

Libby & Ginger are the ultimate mother-daughter duo—double the fluff, double the fun, and double the love! At around 2–3 years old, this bonded pair is full of personality: endlessly curious, always on the move, and incredibly friendly once they’ve had a moment to say hello. Libby, the proud mama, keeps a watchful eye while Ginger brings the playful energy, but both are equally sweet, social, and irresistibly cute. Whether they’re hopping around exploring or snuggling up together, they’re guaranteed to bring life (and a little mischief) to any home. We truly can’t believe this adorable pair is still waiting for their forever family!
