Opening Day- May 2nd!

Starting on May 2nd, we’ll be in Peskeompskut Park every Saturday from 9 AM - 1 PM with beef, pork, chicken, eggs, plants, maple syrup, and more.

Our weekly vendors this year include: Backyard Chicken Company - Greenfield, Ma, Dan's Veggies and Poplar Mountain Maple, Hastings Farm, Kingsbury Farms, and PK Industries.

We’ve also accepted more than 15 vendors who will attend markets as their schedules allow- stay tuned to this page as we get closer for a more complete list.

We’re also excited to welcome the Western Massachusetts Master Gardener Association from 10-12. They’ll have soil testing and gardening advice. At the mangers’ booth there will also be free seeds and a planting activity for all ages.

Looks like it will be a warm week. BUT don't clean-up too early! Keep those pollinators happy!

Early spring garden cleanup can disrupt critical invertebrate habitat and leave pollinators out in the cold. Our guidelines will help you determine when cleaning up won't bug the pollinators in your space.

So hold up folks. Looks like at least until the first full week of April.

So hold up folks. Looks like at least until the first full week of April.

Spring is in the air, but the pollinators are still in the ground! Hold off on spring yard clean up until they emerge from their winter homes.

Wait until overnight temperatures are above 50º for at least one week. Butterflies, bees & other pollinators are wintering in leaves and stems of last year's plants.

We made the list! So many wonderful organizations on the Franklin Community Co-op/Green Fields & McCusker's Market "Round Up" program list. Co-op members--we would be so thankful if you could choose the Community Garden as one of your choices! Vote by 10/28.

Some of the things we could do with the funds---increase plantings for veggi donations, improve flower boarder for more pollinator friendly plantings, small shed for tools, provide stipend for workshop presenters, make mulch and soil amendments available to limited income gardeners.🐞🦋🌷🌻

We are so thankful to those who donated bulbs to the community garden through The Montague Reporter fundraiser! We have more to plant but were able to get in most of them earlier in the month.
Looking forward to seeing new blooms in the spring!🪻🌷🪻🌷

Local Folks---Are you a Franklin Community Co-op Member? (Green Fields & McCusker's Markets) If so---please consider nominating the Great Falls Community Garden. https://franklincommunity.coop/nominate-round-up-recipients/ Nominate by TUESDAY, OCTOBER 14th midnight.
Help us get on the ballot!
Then voting opens Oct 20th.
We want to do some improvements in the garden, including planting fruit bushes, increasing growing veggies for donation, improved tool shed, soil improvement, etc. The Round-Up program contribution would help immensely.
Thank you for considering!
