Grumbling pushes out gratitude.
Busyness pushes out intimacy.
Selfishness pushes out prayer.
Unforgiveness pushes out love.

Now turn it around.

Love pushes out unforgiveness.
Prayer pushes out selfishness.
Intimacy pushes out busyness.
Gratitude pushes out grumbling.

“Do all things without grumbling or disputing.”
Philippians 2:14

“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.”
James 4:8

It’s easy to focus on what needs to stop. Stop complaining. Stop being so busy. Stop being selfish. Stop holding onto hurt.

But maybe the better question is, What am I feeding?

Feed gratitude and grumbling loses its voice. Make room for Jesus and busyness loses its grip. Pray for others and selfishness gets smaller. Remember how much you’ve been forgiven and it becomes easier to forgive.

Don’t just fight what needs to go. Feed what needs to grow.

Prayer

Lord, grow in me a grateful heart, a desire for Your presence, a life of prayer and a love that forgives. Amen.
