Apologies for the absence! We have had a very chaotic last couple of weeks. Our kiddo is home for summer break! ☀️ We have a new puppy tearing through the house. 🫠 We've had some sad moments with the passing of our sweet in-house gecko Jester, our sweet tarantula Iris, and another this week. 😔 We've got a new intake! He may already have a home pending his wellness visit and quarantine period! We will see! 💗

I personally went and helped other rescue friends last week with some local needs. 🫶 We had our fair share of angry screams and cries and sweet laughs. Whenever I need a reminder why we as rescues exist, I go walk in another pair of shoes to show myself the great things rescue accomplishes. There are some incredible people in this community. I love you guys.

If you see an animal you would like to adopt, you will need to:

1️⃣ Fill out and submit our online adoption application located here: https://forms.gle/czGqayHrjhBHy3N9A, on our website, and also in the comments below.

2️⃣ Give us 24 hours to respond.

🛑Please note:

👉PM us to inquire about any adoption fees as Facebook does not permit us to openly post them due to Facebook's policies.

👉 Our facility is located in Tupelo, MS. We do offer public location meet up, but we do not travel for adoptions. Occasionally we travel to Oxford, MS and can arrange a meet along that route.

👉 Species specific adoption fees do apply.

👉 We do not 'hold' animals. Please be prepared to schedule the adoption within 7-10 days of application approval.

If you are surrendering an animal who has medical issues (medical surrender) PLEASE be upfront about them. Don't let us show up to an animal clinging to life. It's becoming more and more common. We are not miracle workers. We don't have veterinary services on-site. Our vet is 8 minutes from our facility, but he is not on demand. Emergency vet visits cost us so much and donations are slim to none. We do have experience in a lot of exotic care, but some things go beyond what we can provide. We need to know everything we are getting into the best that we can so we are prepared.

Please, please, please be upfront. If you haven't cared for the animal properly, if they've developed an illness and you haven't been able to afford care, if it's sudden onset, whatever the reason... Honesty is the best course of action for that animal. I'm begging you. Everyone at the rescue is begging you.

Sonic ended up having euthanized, and it's absolutely devastating.

Dr. Morris confirmed that Sonic had "Wobblers" also known as Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome, a neurogenic degenerative disease that is always fatal. HOWEVER, it is manageable until complete paralysis in the hands of a caring, kind individual. Sonic did not die from Wobblers. Sonic was neglected. He was essentially left in a cage to rot, slowly becoming paralyzed. He had urine scalding on his legs and abdomen. He had lost so much weight from lack of nutrition that you could see how sunken in his sides were.

He could've been cared for. He could've been loved and prolonged his well-being. Instead, he was neglected.

In his last days, he was loved. He got pets. He tasted freshly picked strawberries and wet cat food. He was warm.

Please, for the love of God and animals, RESEARCH BEFORE COMMITTING TO THESE ANIMALS!!! They deserve that.

We will lay this sweet boy to rest in our garden. He deserves that. Sonic, sweet boy, you were so loved in your final days. I know that Rainbow Bridge is a little bit brighter today. 🌈🐾🦔 I hope there's endless strawberry fields for you. Until we meet again. 💗

Our newest intake, whom we have named Super Sonic, is a very sickly little guy. We are anxiously awaiting a vet visit in the morning. We've given him a small bath (spot clean, he was filthy), trimmed a severely ingrown toenail, and attempted to feed a strawberry.

I highly doubt any of us will sleep well tonight.

He can't stand up on his own and keeps falling over. We aren't quite sure what is happening, but we hope the vet visit tomorrow will point us in the right direction. Super Sonic is a fighter, though. He's hanging on. Please send him your prayers! 🙏💗
