We're looking forward to seeing friends and supporters today at the Black Cat Bonanza. We will be at the Wyoming County Fairgrounds from 11-4. Stop in to purchase barbecue chicken, shop with the vendors, take your chance at the basket and gift card raffle, check out the car show, and enjoy a day of community spirit. We will have a food truck on site, and music by Rick Hiduk!
This year is the 5th anniversary of our event, which is a major fundraiser for the rescue. We shelter and care for over 100 cats at our Rt 6 location, with many other cats residing off-site. Many of our cats have been with us for over 10 years, and Meshoppen CAT Rescue is the only home they have known. We strive to provide a loving, safe and clean environment, and we are reliant on community donations and volunteers to accomplish our goal.
Today, we are featuring Nala, one of our Lake Winola cats. When Nala arrived, she -and several other cats - were suffering from an unknown skin condition. Nala was missing a large swath of hair from her neck and shoulders, and her skin was weeping and swollen. It took several montha of treatment to see an improvement, and continued monitoring and care as the condition flares periodically.
Nala is a friendly, curious, vocal girl, and she has bonded strongly with a couple of our volunteers. She can be a little fiesty, and she likes to be the center of your attention. Nala would do best in an adult home where she receives a lot of interaction and play.
