82 years ago…D-Day Landings: June 6, 1944

Codename:
The invasion was codenamed Operation Overlord.
Where:
The Allied assault targeted five beaches in Normandy, France: Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword.
Allied Troops:
Approximately 156,000 Allied troops landed in Normandy on D-Day.
Casualties:
Total Allied casualties on D-Day exceeded 10,000 killed, wounded or missing.
