Our newest member will be giving her first icebreaker speech tomorrow: “Finding Myself through Social Media.” Sounds quite intriguing! Our Toastmaster tomorrow, Harold, has chosen the theme “The Luck of the Irish.” Harold is also the one to contact if you want the zoom link to join us as a guest at noon.

What a fun meeting with our two new dynamic members jumping right in for meeting roles. Doris gave a great speech about the book “Pollyanna” and optimism, that silver lining behind a cloud. Consider joining us as a guest some Thursday noon.

We had a lot of laughs today. This was a great way to spend some of a snowy day inside. This was a fun break from reading and watching Senate trial. Let me know if you want to join as a guest some Thursday at noon.

We had fun today with Harold’s humorous speech about Valentine’s Day from a dog’s point of view which included some history of the holiday. Also of note, how to get out of “The Doghouse” with sweet treats and flowers, although your dog might enjoy having your company there.

I loved Table Topics impromptu speaking last Thursday! We each told of our favorite memory from the inauguration. One told about the women’s clothes, another about the young poet, another about the security and calm. Fun how we each have a unique perspective to share.

Update: 03/16/2020

Doris Zahn, our club president, advocates cancelling our March 19 and March 26 meetings, and evaluating after that. I am writing on Doris' behalf because she's still in Denver.
Hang in there, everyone. Use this time to write a pocket speech or two!

“Take the Leap” was a fun and thought provoking theme. Congratulations Marci, for delivering the best impromptu speech.

We had a great time celebrating Ralph Smedley’s birthday and sharing Governor Inslee’s Toastmasters International Week proclamation. Best of all we had a 3-way tie for table topics. Congratulations Ann Chenhall, Carolyn, and Marci!

Yesterday, we had an AMAZING meeting!

Our theme was "A Wiki World" (thanks to our Toastmaster, Brian!) giving us insights to the Wiki Wiki in Honolulu, Hawaii, the birth of Wikipedia and its impacts on us today.

Doris gave us in impactful speech "Imagine all the People" - giving us insight to WWII and the trials her mother-in-law endured. A beautifully crafted story that intertwined world and family histories.

Marci led us through Table Topics, providing us phrases often used (idioms), challenging us to "tellis a time when..." --- Ann won by giving us spirited talk about a time when she was on "Cloud 9," after she was offered her first teaching job.

Final thoughts for potential visitors: There were so many great moments... worth giving the club a shot to experience for yourself. Please join us: noon every Thursday at the Tumwater Fire Department
