June 5 is HIV Long-Term Survivors Awareness Day. This day recognizes the people who lived through the earliest years of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and continue to carry stories of resilience, grief, advocacy, and survival.

Today, we recognize long-term survivors, including those diagnosed before effective treatment became available, people living with HIV for 10+ years, and lifelong survivors born with HIV.

With summer finally in full swing, here are some of condom tips to keep your safety supplies safe. Don't forget - PrEP and PEP are powerful tools in HIV prevention, but condoms are still essential for full-spectrum protection. They remain the only method that helps prevent both HIV and a wide range of other STIs like chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. Think of condoms as your all-in-one protection plan: still relevant, still effective.

Keep these little guys out of direct sunlight and extreme heat - and when traveling, make sure they are with you so that they aren't exposed to temps you don't know about (as in, sitting on the tarmac in direct sunlight.)

If you need free supplies, check out our lobby or our outreach van! We've got you covered (literally and figuratively.)

Adulting starts when?!

It's never too early in life to start taking care of your health. Pap smears are recommended every 3 years starting at age 21 (regardless of intimate activity) and can help detect changes early before they become something more serious. Pap smears are available at HOPE Clinic in a safe, supportive, and judgment-free environment! We offer free and low-cost health care with upfront pricing to those who need it. We also take insurance for some services if you have it.

Across Oklahoma, people of all backgrounds, genders, and political beliefs agree: lowering STI rates matters.

New polling from the Kirkpatrick Family Fund and the Economic Development and Health Coalition shows strong support for access to sexual health education and resources that help people make informed decisions about their health. The findings also highlight a gap between current policies and what many Oklahoma voters actually believe and value.

At HOPE, we’re proud to support our community by offering free and low-cost testing so teens and adults can know their status, protect their health, and access the care they deserve. Huge thanks to the Journal Record for sharing these findings.
