On April 17th, The Tulsa (OK) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated Arts Facet partnered with Services to Youth at John Hope Franklin to deliver a meaningful and creative experience for the girls in the program. Miss Black Oklahoma Pre‑Teen, Zoey Ball, led an engaging, hands‑on project focused on recycling and gardening. Each participant planted a begonia plant in a recycled grape container, learning how sustainability and creativity can work together. The girls also enjoyed Black Artist Bingo, where they were introduced to notable Black artists and their contributions to the arts.

This experience blended creativity, culture, and environmental awareness in a meaningful way. The girls gained new skills while developing an appreciation for sustainability and the contributions of Black artists. The partnership highlighted the impact of collaboration in inspiring young minds and encouraging them to see themselves as creative contributors and responsible stewards of their communities.

Tulsa (OK) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated Celebrates Heart Health & Community Impact ❤️

On April 11th, under the leadership of our very own, Tiffany Freeman, members of the Tulsa (OK) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated came together for the Tulsa Heart Walk in support of healthy living and heart health awareness.

With a small but mighty group, our chapter members proudly showed up in alignment with our Health and Human Services Facet, demonstrating our continued commitment to promoting wellness in our community.

Tiffany shared her heartfelt appreciation for the unwavering support of those who joined her in the walk. While some were able to walk alongside her, she also expressed deep gratitude for those who supported in spirit.

Exercise plays a vital role in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and this effort was a meaningful reminder of the importance of caring for our hearts—physically and collectively.

We are especially proud to celebrate the exciting accomplishment of Tiffany’s Heart Walk Team for placing in the top 10 for fundraising!

Thank you to everyone who donated and supported this effort. Your generosity will make a lasting difference in the lives of individuals and families across our community.

On Friday afternoon, students at Legacy Charter School had an engaging and educational experience thanks to the Virtual Colgate Dental Van visit. Colgate generously provided toothbrushes and valuable information on proper oral health care to more than 300 students ranging from kindergarten through 5th grade.

Adding to the impact, the Health and Human Services Facet of The Tulsa (OK) Chapter contributed books on oral health for each classroom and gifted every student an electric toothbrush, helping reinforce the importance of daily dental hygiene in a fun and meaningful way.

The event also featured insightful presentations from four dentists, along with a hygienist and a dental assistant, who shared their knowledge and spoke to the students about careers in the dental field. Their interactive approach helped make oral health both accessible and exciting for the children.

Overall, it was an incredible experience that not only educated students on how to care for their smiles but also inspired many to think about future possibilities in healthcare.

On March 28, The Tulsa (OK) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated proudly hosted the Black Family Wellness Expo—a free, community-centered event for all, dedicated to reducing health disparities and improving wellness outcomes for families.

This impactful event was made possible through the generous support of our sponsors: Oklahoma Complete Health, Humana Healthy Horizons in Oklahoma, Oklahoma Birth Equity Initiative, and Epsilon IOTA. Their commitment to community wellness helped ensure that families had access to essential resources and services.

Community members benefited from a wide range of free health screenings and vital information, including heart health, maternal and infant health, mental health, cancer awareness, dental health, and more.

We were especially honored to welcome Tulsa’s mayor, Monroe Nichols, who attended and shared remarks affirming the importance of this work across our community. The Expo was also a joyful, family-friendly experience. Children enjoyed engaging activities that made wellness fun and accessible, including appearances by Princess Tiana and Black Panther, face painting, balloons, and the distribution of children’s books that encourage healthy habits and literacy.

Adding to the energy of the day, participants enjoyed line dancing sessions and special spotlight moments that brought the community together in movement, celebration, and connection. This event reflects our chapter’s deep and ongoing commitment to service that is intentional, impactful, and rooted in the health and wholeness of our community.

To our sponsors, healthcare partners, vendors, volunteers, and every community member who supported this event—thank you for making this impactful day possible! 💚
