Join us for two classes designed to bring fresh flavors and fun into the kitchen! Kids can explore Italian foods and flavors at Kid's Kitchen Adventures on October 13 at 2:00 pm. Then, join us for Healthy Everyday Cooking on October 28 at 10:00 am to celebrate the flavors of fall!

Both events offer an opportunity to explore new foods, learn about cooking, and discover ways to make healthy eating a part of your everyday life.

Looking for an activity for your little ones while on Fall break? Join us for corn husk doll-making happening October 15th at IHCRC.

Date: Thursday, October 15, 2026
Time: 9:00 am - 11:30 am

Creating craft projects such as this offers many positive benefits. At the end of the project, youth will have a corn husk doll to take with them, creating a tangible sense of accomplishment, and adding individualized details such as colors, patterns, and accessories presents a creative outlet and an opportunity for self-expression. Watching their corn husk dolls take shape along each step of the process and seeing their finished creation can also boost confidence and self-esteem.

Indigenous Roots is getting bigger this year.

Registration opened Thursday for the Indigenous Roots Community Summit, a three-day gathering Oct. 2-4 that will bring organizations and community members together for programming centered on Native culture, wellness, connection and celebration.

Now in its third year, the Crosswinds event is expanding from its previous symposium format into a community summit. The summit will include a variety of activities at multiple locations along Peoria Avenue in Tulsa, with additional virtual events offered throughout the weekend.

Every Child Matters

September 30 is Orange Shirt Day. This day is dedicated to honoring those children who were forcibly removed from their families and communities to be placed in residential boarding schools.

On this day we wear orange as a powerful reminder of the history and ongoing effects of the residential school system in Canada and the United States.

The origins of Orange Shirt Day date back to 2013, inspired by the story of six-year-old Phyllis, a residential school survivor. She was taken from her family, and on her first day, they took away her grandmother's gift of an orange shirt.

Today, the orange shirt is a symbol of the loss of culture and identity faced by students in those schools, many of which never returned home. It represents hope, reconciliation, and a commitment to ensuring that "Every Child Matters."
