Tulsa Hub was a light in our community for over a decade, empowering thousands of people with transportation bicycles and repairs and truly changing lives. Stephen Noel-Place and I (Arianna) had the honor of working for Tulsa Hub, which connected us with many of you whose stories and love are woven into our beings. Transportation is a human right, and bicycles provide a crucial chain link on the road to empowerment. When Tulsa Hub closed last year, its impact and the holes it filled became even more apparent.
With permission from Tulsa Hub’s page owners, I am excited to share with you that Stephen and I recently opened Second Wind Bicycles, providing affordable refurbished bicycles, mobile repairs and commuter classes. We are an LLC, not a non-profit, so we will not be able to completely fill the hub-shaped hole in our community. Still, we want to do what we can to connect people with bicycles and repairs crucial for accessing community services, completing daily care tasks, and finding and maintaining employment.
As part of our Roll It Forward program, we accept gifts of bicycles, parts, and accessories, which we refurbish and either give directly to organizations connected to people in need, or sell them and allocate the profits toward this work. Gifts are NOT tax-deductible because we are not a 501(c)(3) organization. The funding we have generated from these gifts has already helped us provide deeply discounted repairs and bicycles to our neighbors. We want to keep rolling! Check out https://www.secondwindbicycles.com/services to learn more about this program. We are seeking partnerships with other companies, advocacy groups, non-profits, and other organizations interested in collaborating to work toward transportation justice–please reach out if you are interested!
We will not be posting regularly on the Tulsa Hub page, so please follow us on Facebook (Second Wind Bicycles), Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/secondwindbicycles/), and TikTok (https://www.tiktok.com/), and check out our website, www.secondwindbicycles.com to learn more about our mobile repair services (we come to you!) and refurbished bicycles. You follow the Tulsa Hub page because you care about people and know that bicycles can help alleviate suffering and empower change. Let’s work together to ensure everyone has access to transportation.
Ride on, friends!
