Well, we did it. On April 18, 2026, we held our final Heroes on the Water event—and it was truly a beautiful day filled with fishing, stories, laughter, and heartfelt celebration.

We’re especially grateful to Savastano's Pizzeria for providing a delicious lunch and to Haug & Bees LLC for creating some truly impressive swag. Your generosity helped make the day even more special.

Very few people are given the privilege to give back to those who have sacrificed so much. It has been an incredible honor to love, support, and serve our Veterans, First Responders, and their families.

“Thank you” hardly feels sufficient to express our gratitude to our attendees, donors, supporters, and volunteers. Your time, trust, and generosity made this journey possible, and the impact will stay with us for years to come. It has been an amazing and humbling experience.

There’s a reason being out on the water makes a difference, and it’s not random.

When you’re in a kayak:
Your breathing slows down
Your focus narrows
The constant background noise drops off

Add steady paddling and open space, and your body starts to recalibrate.

How did you feel when kayak fishing for the first time? Share in the comments.

Strong families don’t just happen—they’re built over time. And in military life, that can be harder than most people realize. Moves, deployments, long stretches apart—it all adds up.

But it also makes the time together matter more.

Out on the water, we see it all the time: families slowing down, talking more, reconnecting in a way that doesn’t feel forced.

April is Month of the Military Child, and we’re reminded just how much military kids carry—and how important these moments together really are.

We put together a few simple ways to help strengthen those bonds—nothing complicated, just real things that make a difference.

Every event is built on the principle that connection matters. But none of it happens without people willing to step in—whether it’s loading gear or being present to offer a helping hand.

Every hour, every effort, every small action contributes to a bigger mission: giving those who gave so much a space to recharge, reconnect, and reclaim a part of their lives.

Join us for the April 2026 Event.

While this will be our first event of the year, it will also be our final event as the Northeastern Oklahoma Chapter.

After 14 years of service, community, and shared impact, we invite you to come together for one last time as we celebrate all that this chapter has been.

Over the years, this chapter has meant something unique to each of us—friendships formed, lessons learned, early mornings spent side by side, and growth that wasn’t always easy but was always worth it. What we built together matters. And it deserves to be honored well.

📅 April 18th
⏰ 8:00 AM
📍 Location: Jarnigan's

This final gathering will include:
• A morning of fishing in a place full of beauty and memories
• Lunch provided for all attendees
• A celebration of the journey we’ve shared
• Space to tell stories, reflect, and remember
• Moments to express gratitude
• An intentional closing of this chapter

This decision wasn’t made lightly. But we believe in ending things the right way, with appreciation, dignity, and thankfulness for every person who played a role in these 14 years.

If this organization impacted you in any way, we would love for you to be there.

Let’s gather—one more time.

There’s a kind of quiet you only get on the water. No traffic. No phones ringing. No schedule stacked with meetings. Just wind, water, and the sound of a paddle hitting the surface.

For people who have spent years in high-pressure environments—combat zones, emergency scenes, long shifts—that kind of quiet matters. It gives the brain a chance to downshift.

Research shows that natural environments help reduce cognitive fatigue and stress levels.

But most people don’t need a research paper to understand it. You feel it the moment the kayak drifts and everything slows down.

That’s the environment Heroes on the Water creates with our kayak fishing events.

Chapter events are kicking off across the country and we can't wait to see you on the water.
