PechaKucha Tulsa

PechaKucha Tulsa PechaKucha Night was devised in Tokyo in 2003. It has turned into a massive celebration inspiring creatives worldwide.

It rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds. PechaKucha Night was devised in Tokyo in February 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public. It has turned into a massive celebration, with events happening in hundreds of cities around the world, inspiring creatives worldwide. Drawing its name from the Japanese term

for the sound of conversation ("chit chat"), it rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds. It's a format that makes presentations concise, and keeps things moving at a rapid pace. With PechaKucha Nights now happening in over 500 cities around the world, we have discovered that most cities -- not just Tokyo -- have virtually no public spaces where people can show and share their work in a relaxed way. If you have just graduated from college and finished your first project in the real world, where can you show it? It probably won't get into a magazine, and you don't have enough photos for a gallery show or a lecture, but PechaKucha is the perfect platform to show and share your work.

PechaKucha Night Tulsa 02: #6 Daniel Sutliff - Visual Artist/Videographer/Musician

Daniel Ephraim Sutliff ( aka DANIEL((((S)))) ) "When I was a kid I constantly drew the same cliffside w/ different figures fighting/falling/blowing things up. I lost all those drawings tho. Started playing/writing music around 12 years old. Obsessed w/ NINTENDO worlds/graphics. Started DANIEL(((S))) as a solo music/art project around Fall 2008. I make coloring books, draw cartoons, do paintings, make geometric, psychedelic structures/images with paper, design clothes, and much more. I am obsessed w/ output, tho slow at times to generate it."

PechaKucha Night Tulsa 02: #5 Ruperto Hernandez - Dia de Los Mu***os Altarmaking

Ruperto Hernandez, "From an ancestry of Curandera's and spiritually aware heritage, my purpose has always been to help my fellow humans find a self connection with the flame of life. As a performance artist, my goal is always focused on personal awareness of the world and our connection in it. We are all connected. Love is the drug. It's all about the cycle.

Nacer es solamente comenzar a morir!"

PechaKucha Night Tulsa 02: #3 Mark Kuykendall - Musician/Music Engineer

Mark Daniel Kuykendall is an Oklahoman artist, musician, and producer. Kuykendall’s work is generally characterized by his production style of melding electronically manipulated field recordings with dusty attic 16mm film. Kuykendall’s hushed vignettes combined with, custom tweaked analog synthesizers, and occasionally his crisp vocals creates his unmistakable collage of soft tones.

Holding an Associates Degree of Science in Audio Engineering from Full Sail University in 2003, Mark returned to his home town Tulsa, OK. Where the sudden death of his mother, Danette Kuykendall, early 2005, set him on a new path. Determined to overcome his grief from the loss, he remembers her love for his music, and continues to write, record, & produce today.

Here is an interview that I did with Mark Kuykendall. He is a engineer/ producer and is based in Tulsa, OK. He owns a studio in Tulsa called Unknown Tone Studios. Here…
