For a while, I wasnโt sure what this post would look like, and I honestly thought it might be a post announcing the end of Hannahโs Hope.
Instead, I get to share something much sweeter.
In 2013, after our first pregnancy loss, the Lord laid Hannahโs Hope on my heart. At the time, pregnancy loss felt like such an overlooked area of ministry. So many families were walking through devastating loss, and the people who loved them often had no idea what to say or how to help.
Hannahโs Hope started in our home. I made the boxes myself, one at a time. Over the last 13 years, it has grown from that little ministry into one that has had the privilege of sending hope and encouragement to more than 1,500 grieving families.
It has been one of the great honors of my life to be part of it.
But seasons change. We had four pregnancy losses, and now four living children. My own life and responsibilities look very different than they did in 2013, and for a while Iโve been trying to discern what my role in Hannahโs Hope should look like going forward. With the help of our incredible box coordinator, Rhonda, the ministry has continued faithfully serving families, but I knew Hannahโs Hope deserved more time and attention than I had the capacity to give it.
I had reached a place where I was at peace with the possibility that perhaps Hannahโs Hope had simply completed its season.
There was only one person I could imagine asking to carry it forward.
My sister, Bekah.
Bekah has a heart for women walking through infertility and has already founded Waiting Warrior, a ministry created to encourage women in the waiting. Infertility and pregnancy loss so often intersect, and as she and her husband were praying about growing that ministry, the timing of this transition was too perfect to be coincidence.
So I asked. They prayed. And she said yes.
Over the next few weeks, Iโll be stepping down as President of Hannahโs Hope and handing the ministry over to Bekah and a new season of leadership.
And I am so, so grateful.
Even in the timing of this transition, weโve seen God provide. A recent generous donation allowed us to purchase a new printer that will make it possible for Bekah to bring Hannahโs Hope into her home, and has helped equip the ministry for this next chapter.
There are new things ahead for Hannahโs Hope. I donโt know exactly what all of them areโand for the first time in 13 years, I donโt have to. ๐ Those dreams get to belong to Bekah and the people God brings alongside her.
Iโll be cheering them on, answering questions when needed, and probably always feeling a little bit like Hannahโs Hope is one of my babies. But Iโm also really ready to pass the torch.
Thirteen years ago, God laid Hannahโs Hope on my heart.
Today, Iโm incredibly grateful that He has made a way for its story to continue without me at the helm.
To every person who has donated, volunteered, served on our board, ordered a Hope Box, told someone about Hannahโs Hope, prayed for this ministry, or trusted us to walk alongside someone you love in their griefโthank you. You have been part of sending hope to more than 1,500 families.
And Hannahโs Hope will continue to need you. There are still families to serve, boxes to send, prayers to pray, and a ministry to support as it grows into this next season.
What a gift it has been to lead Hannahโs Hope for these 13 years.
And what a gift to know that this isnโt the end.
Itโs simply time for a new chapter. ๐ค
