The Arc of Oklahoma

The Arc of Oklahoma The Arc of Oklahoma is a disability rights organization, working for and alongside people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Arc of Oklahoma promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD.) Since 1952, our organization has been dedicated to serving Oklahomans with I/DD and their families, across diagnoses, including Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy and other intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are part of a network of more than 600 state and l

ocal chapters across the country working tirelessly to uphold a vision that every individual and family living with I/DD has access to the information, advocacy, and skills they need to support their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes.

Feeling overwhelmed by the special education system? You're not alone.

Join us for a free Arc at School information session on Monday, June 23rd, at noon online via Zoom to see if this class is right for you.

Oklahoma families are already feeling the impact of Medicaid changes.

Family members who provide paid care for a loved one with a disability must begin making tough choices about what care will look like going forward.

We are at the table fighting to protect home and community-based care in Oklahoma. Because where someone receives support should not depend on how well their family can navigate paperwork.

Meet Gatlin.

He plays violin. Vivaldi, Disney, whatever moves him. He works part-time at a local violin shop, learning how to care for instruments and sharing what he knows with customers.

He is not just part of the community. He contributes to it.

Stories like his are why we do this work. And right now, the supports that make independence possible are under threat. Decisions being made today could impact access to special education, community living, and healthcare.

We have come too far to go back.

Your gift today helps protect disability rights and expand opportunity for Oklahomans with IDD. Every dollar stays in Oklahoma.

Last year, The Arc of Oklahoma attended 331 IEP and 504 meetings across the state.

86% of those families walked out with services that had previously been delayed or denied.

We trained 79 parents and professionals to navigate the special education system. We made 400 home visits to monitor residential settings and protect the rights of people living in group homes. We helped 147 self-advocates find their voice, run for office, and show up in their communities.

And we did it across all 77 Oklahoma counties.

We have been doing this work since 1952. We are glad you are here with us.

A huge thank you to HUB International for joining us for our MLK Season of Service volunteer event at the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma!

Alongside friends from ONEOK, Inc., community volunteers, self-advocates, family members, and several new faces, we packed 2,595 pounds of bread for Oklahomans experiencing food insecurity.

Every volunteer matters. Every contribution counts. And every event reminds us that inclusion makes our communities stronger.
