Longtime Tulsa resident and architect William (“Bill”) A. Stoskopf passed away April 24, 2026 after a long illness. Bill was one of the first to join the Council Oak Men’s Chorale and performed with them for 25 years. In 2024, he published a novel “She Has No Tell,” reflecting on segregation, slavery and the civil war in Mississippi. Memorial services pending.

Today, on Transgender Day of Visibility, COMC stands in support of trans people and calls attention to their dignity, safety, and rights.

We recognize the strength it takes to live openly in a world that too often responds with misunderstanding, discrimination, and harm. Trans lives matter, trans rights matter, and every person deserves to be seen, respected, and protected. 🏳️‍⚧️

The belief that all people are of equal worth isn’t a “women’s issue.” It is the foundation of human rights.

As our understanding of gender expands and our awareness of racial injustice deepens, it becomes even clearer that real progress requires feminism, anti-racism, and LGBTQ+ advocacy to work together.

I’m grateful to be a cisgender q***r woman conducting a chorus of tenor-bass voices. I don’t take lightly the privilege of doing the work I’m trained to do in a space that allows me to be my whole self. The support I’ve received from this ensemble—especially through pregnancy and postpartum—has been deeply moving.

At a recent leadership symposium with GALA Choruses, we talked about the remarkable growth LGBTQ+ choirs across the country are experiencing. In a time when so many feel isolated and uncertain, people are craving community again, just as they did when these choirs were first formed.

That gives me hope.

This Women’s History Month, I’m reminded that striving toward equity is a radical act of resistance with the power to transform our world. And when we commit to it fully, everyone benefits.

Crash Course + first rehearsal pics = proof that spring season is officially alive. 🎶✨

Last night, Council Oak Men’s Chorale kicked things off with COMC Crash Course—a quick, friendly refresher to music theory led by our Artistic Director Whitney Lee Moeller—then jumped straight into our first rehearsal of the spring season. New faces, returning favorites, and a whole lot of great sound already happening.

Watch the recap, drop a 🎵 in the comments if you were there, and if you’re COMC-curious… it’s not too late to join us. 😉
