Khan Ohana Foundation

Khan Ohana Foundation Our Mission:

We exist to empower and uplift marginalized communities in order to help them achieve Khan Ohana aims to do just that, and more.

Our Start

We started as a small food pantry, distributing food to our community members in need. As we became aware of food security issues around the country, we noticed that one demographic with a big need was being overlooked. College students on campuses across the country were dropping out or falling behind in their academic endeavors due to hunger. Although there is individual effort being

made and campus pantries are springing up to address this issue, there is a lack of comprehensive effort to tackle this problem. Our Mission:

We exist to empower and uplift marginalized communities in order to help them achieve sustainability and lifelong success. Our Goals:

To provide resources that aid in meeting basic necessities. To provide education to develop life sustaining skills. To build support systems and resource centers that will provide information for entrepreneurship opportunities.

🌍 Celebrate Earth Day by Growing Our Community! 🌿

This Earth Day, we aren’t just celebrating nature—we’re cultivating it.

Our Backyard Gardening Project is officially underway, turning local spaces into vibrant sources of food, opportunity, and self-sufficiency.

Alhamdulilah, We are thrilled to announce that 4 community garden sites are already committed for this season. But this project is about more than just plants; it’s about people.

🌱 Why This Matters
We are creating meaningful employment for a member of our refugee community. Despite facing language barriers that made traditional work difficult, we are building around his incredible skills, providing a dedicated interpreter so he can lead this project in the field.

đź’° Our Goal for this year: $5,000
To sustain and grow these 4 gardens, we need to raise $5,000. Your contribution is a long-term investment in our community, directly funding:
Tools & Equipment
Seeds, Soil & Planting Materials
Garden Bed Installation
Maintenance & Harvesting

🤲 Make an Impact Today
Instead of a temporary handout, these gardens offer a sustainable solution: fresh food, lower grocery costs, and true independence for local families.

If you’ve been looking for a tangible way to support local families and the planet this Earth Day, this is it.

Help us reach $5,000 and keep these gardens growing! Donation Link in our bio or visit: https://www.khanohana.org/support

🌱 Meet the Heart of Our Garden: Our New Lead Gardener!

At Khan Ohana Foundation, we believe in “Ohana”—and families grow together. We are so excited to introduce our new Backyard Garden Project, and even more excited to announce we’ve officially employed a talented member of our refugee community to lead the way!

By hiring from within the community we serve, this project becomes a living intersection of our work:

Entrepreneurial Spirit: Creating stable, meaningful employment and professional leadership opportunities.

Refugee & Immigrant Services: Honoring the incredible agricultural wisdom and skills our newcomers bring to their new home.

This isn’t just a garden—it’s a workspace, a classroom, and a sanctuary where we plant the seeds of self-sufficiency together.

Many thanks to those who have contributed their time, energy and space. Special thanks to Mike Holmes for our plants!

🌙 Arab American Heritage Month Spotlight: Jerusalem Market 🌙

April is Arab American Heritage Month—a time to recognize and uplift the individuals who help shape our communities every day.

From business owners to doctors, teachers, interpreters, transportation professionals, and more—Arab Americans play a vital role in keeping our communities strong, connected, and thriving. Their contributions matter, and their stories deserve to be seen and celebrated.

We’re kicking off our Spotlight Series with a business that has been doing exactly that for 20 years—

For two decades, they’ve created a space where culture, food, and community come together.

This weekend, they’re celebrating their 20th Anniversary with:
• Free food samples
• Huge sales
• Giveaways and prizes

📍 Friday & Saturday | April 3rd & 4th
⏰ 12–5 PM

Let’s show up, support, and celebrate the businesses that continue to pour into our community!

The Last 10 Nights of Ramadan Are Here 🌙

These nights are among the most sacred of the entire year. Within them is Laylatul Qadr — a night better than a thousand months.

For many of us, Ramadan is a time of reflection, gratitude, and giving.

For the families we serve, it can also be a time of uncertainty.

Your charity in these final nights can help us continue showing up for our community with dignity and care.

If you’ve been waiting for the right time to give, these nights are it.

✨ Give in the last 10 nights and multiply your reward.
